Role: System Engineer / Linux Engineer
Location: San Jose, CA
Duration: 7+ Months Contract

*Primary Job Responsibilities *
Work in a team of Linux Engineers, Network Engineers and Data Center
technicians.
Will work closely with development team to build, optimize, scale and
support global platform.
Participating as a member of the Site Operations team responsible for
management and operation of various Global platforms.
Build, maintain, secure and upgrade our Linux systems (web servers,
application servers & databases)
Assess systems utilization to assist in troubleshooting and performance
tuning
Create scripts for effective maintenance
Provide assistance with vendor's technical support
Provide on-call support for critical issues.
*Job Requirements *
Knowledge, skills, abilities, experience, and education required to perform
job.
8+ years of hands-on experience in Systems (LINUX), Database (MySQL)
and Networking technologies.
Hands-on experience in Database technologies SQL (MySQL, Mongo) and
NO-SQL (Hadoop)
Hands-on experience in setup, optimizing and trouble shooting web
(Apache, lighttd) and application layers (tomcat)
Proven abilities in maintaining large, complex and high transaction
environment.
Proven abilities to build and support 99.95%+ SLA transactional web
sites.
Proven problem solving track record focused on quick outage restore,
root cause analysis technologies
Hands on Java and Apache optimization, performance tuning and
configuration
Understanding of DNS, NFS, TCP/IP and other protocols
Testing and implementation of high availability and disaster recovery
solutions
Flexible, strongly adaptable, and able to manage multiple tasks in a
dynamic, fast-paced environment
Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to peers and
management
Positive attitude and willingness to take on new responsibilities
The ability to adapt a new technical environment if ‘thrown in at the
deep end’
Fluent in English
Basic Qualifications
Excellent experience in Systems (LINUX), Database (MySQL) and
Networking technologies.
Bachelors Degree or equivalent
Proven problem solving track record focused on quick outage restore,
root cause analysis technologies
Strong troubleshooting abilities
Hands on Java and Apache optimization, performance tuning and
configuration
Worked on customer facing websites in a production environment.
