Location: Travel required (multiple locations) Duration: 6 months Rate: DOE TEST ENGINEER Primary Duties and Responsibilities The Test Engineer performs a wide range of duties including some or all of the following: · The test engineer is responsible for understanding business requirements and ensuring that the implemented solution meets the expectations of our stakeholders. · The test engineer is expected to translate Use Cases into test plans, test scenarios, test cases and test scripts. Must be able to execute these test scripts, identify defects and partner with multiple teams to facilitate the prompt resolution of these defects. · The ideal candidate must have experience with UML, RUP, RUP for COTS, ITIL and test automation tools. Must also be able to contribute to testing best practices. · Work with business analysis and development teams in translating business requirements/use case into test plans, test scenarios, test cases, and prepare test results · Develop and execute test cases and test scripts · Maintain requirements traceability and conduct necessary reviews to ensure test cases appropriately translate and map to requirements · Assist business users to perform User Acceptance Testing · Create test data and expected results for test scenarios using SQL and interact with project team members to ensure the data is available for testing · Ensures tests are successfully completed and documented and follow established standards and guidelines · Track and report to Test Lead and Project Manager the progress of the project during the · System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) · Track and report defects · Develop and automate regression test suites · Contribute best practices and process improvement activities Knowledge, skills and abilities · Strong UI and backend/database validation skills · Ability to execute and coordinate testing efforts · Ability to escalate issues for resolution · Strong understanding of web technologies, relational databases, real-time and batch processing · Ability to utilize testing tools including test automation tools · Ability to query relational database to create test scripts and validate processing results · Experience working with Use Cases, UML, RUP, RUP for COTS, and ITIL Proficiency in the use of computers for: · Word processing · MS Project Plan · Data base management · Spreadsheets · E-mail · Internet Experience · 5+ years testing experience within Enterprise Software Company; · 3+ years experience with Life Sciences companies (Highly Preferred) Other: Travel may be required depending on client engagements.
