*Job Title : Hadoop DeveloperLocation : Chicago, IL Duration : 6+ MonthsInterview : video/phone with most likely a F2F (*we will help split the plane tickets upon hire*)* *Essential duties and responsibilities:* • Be part of a POC effort to help build out a new Hadoop cluster. • Interface with various user groups to assess requirements and design solutions to meet the requirements. • Be hands on; develop working, well tested prototypes and oversee handover to operational teams. • Constantly review and propose best practices/standards. *Deliverables*: • Source-target mapping • Code deliverables • Testing related documentation • Operational Documents • Best Practices recommendation *Key Requirements:* • 7 or more years of development experience with Java • 3 or more years of experience in Data Warehousing/Business Intelligence, or vice versa. • 2 or more years of experience with Hadoop Clusters, including experience setting up, configuring, and monitoring Hadoop file cluster. • Expert knowledge of SQL (Both Hadoop/Hive and RDBMS) • Working knowledge of Hadoop internals such as file storage formats (Sequence Files, Columnar files, Parquet) and optimizing long running jobs. • Experience working with a Data Visualization Platform like Tableau/Cognos • Experience working with Cloudera and/or Hortonworks Hadoop stacks is a must. • Certification is a plus. • Proven skills for developing and self-testing work • Knowledge of the Big Data technology landscape is a plus. • Knowledge of Health Insurance industry is a plus.
