Max rate: $50/hour *
Please see the description below and let me know who you have. Need to know
WebSphere and Tomcat as this position will be focused on "Concept" project:
migrating an application from WebSphere to Tomcat to learn if Tomcat can
support this and potentially additional apps.

The ideal candidate will have software development experience with the
middle-tier and small systems environment, be inquisitive, be good at
troubleshooting and debugging, and have the ability to provide guidance and
consulting to other development staff.
*Primary Responsibilities: *
- Provide support and help evolve the “middle – tier” and “small
systems” infrastructure applications and related technology
infrastructure.
- Work on App Tech projects that use technologies such as the latest
versions of Java, .NET, Oracle, F5 BigIP, Linux, Windows, and Tomcat.
- Help implement and support App Tech applications and perform
follow-up on technology operational issues.
- Develop software and tools that drive operational efficiencies,
provide usage analysis, and aid in incident management in support of App
Tech products.
- Help develop operational procedures that meet the objectives
outlined by App Tech and the business with a focus on functionality,
stability, and performance.
- Help ensure App Tech products are meeting defined levels of
operational availability, reliability, site responsiveness, and
timeliness
for each system and business area.
- Help drive standards for capacity management, change management,
incident management, problem management, performance management,
and other
best practices specifically focused on App Tech products.
- Work with App Tech Architecture, Development, and Data Center to
help define and implement hardware & software standards with
considerations
to costs, manageability, and supportability.
- Assist with the oversight and direction for App Tech enterprise
hardware infrastructure (includes Novus, Database, Middleware, and Web
technologies).
- Investigate root cause and help mitigate issues for App Tech
customers.
- Help evaluate performance of new technologies being implemented for
App Tech customers.
- Create support and troubleshooting documentation for App Tech
products.
- Effectively communicate timely and accurate status information to
project leaders
- Work on multiple projects and manage time effectively.
- Participate as a team member and assisting other team members where
needed
*Qualifications *
- BS/BA degree in Computer Science, MIS, or related field with a strong
academic record.
- Several years of experience with WebSphere & Tomcat.
- 3+ years of software development experience.
- Good base knowledge of Westlaw components, features and
infrastructure.
- Experience with Java and/or .Net and relational databases such as
Oracle and MS-SQL server.
- Experience with the Westlaw “middle-tier” and “small systems”
applications and infrastructure preferred.
- Java Certification preferred.
- Oracle and SQL database experience preferred.
- Unix and/or Windows platform experience preferred.
- Experience in application performance tuning .
- Ability to solve complex problems independently and to generate
innovative solutions.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Quick learner, winning attitude, eager to leverage new technologies
in a dynamic team environment.
- Must be innovative and a 'self-starter'.
- Strong problem solving and data analysis skills.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to work well independently and in a team based environment
