Job Title: .Net Developer
Location: Charleston, SC
Duration: 10 months
This position will join a development team that is currently working on The
Citadel’s Cadet Accountability System. The system provides for automation,
management and reporting capabilities in support of the day to day
activities of the South Carolina Corps of Cadets and includes such features
as entering and monitoring class absences, infirmary visits, punishments,
tours, confinements, special orders, conduct proficiency, physical
proficiency, leave and academic performance.
Under general supervision, the position will
Be integrally involved in the development and support of all aspects of the
Cadet Accountability System and its supporting systems.
Participate in a project team using that uses Agile and/or and “agile-like”
project management methodology. Participates in all phases of the
development and implementation process.
Be knowledgeable of best-practices for building secure web applications.
Be responsible for developing client-side scripting and server-side
application code.
Ensure integration of the Cadet Accountability System servers with all
other supporting systems and relational databases.
Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Provide domain-specific expertise and guidance and perspective on good
software development practices
2. Create design documents, conduct design and code reviews, write code,
develop unit tests, debug defects, and release code in an Agile development
environment
3. Perform system architecture, design and coding
4. Analyze business and technical requirements
5. Perform reviews and evaluate designs and project activities for
compliance with applications design and development guidelines and standards
6. Code, debug and test software enhancements and/or new products in local,
networked, or web services/applications, primarily in C#,
jQuery/JavaScript, T-SQL, HTML, CSS and the latest versions of ASP.NET and
MVC
7. Provide guidance and mentoring to less-experienced staff members
8. Other duties may be assigned, as necessary.
Minimum Requirements:
Education: An undergraduate degree in Computer Science or a very strong
Computer Science background.
Experience/Computers:
10+ years of experience developing Web based applications
7 years minimum experience with C# with good working knowledge of ASP.NET
and Microsoft MVC
5 years minimum experience using recent versions of Microsoft Visual Studio
5 years minimum experience with HTML, XML, JavaScript and CSS
Solid understanding of the fundamentals of computer science and software
development
Proven experience working in an Agile environment
5 years minimum experience programming in SQL Relational Databases
(SQL-Server, Oracle, MySQL) and a good working knowledge of SQL and SQL
Server Management Studio
2 years minimum experience with jQuery.
Languages: C#, T-SQL, and jQuery/JavaScript expertise is a MUST.
Clearance: Must be able to Obtain a Public Trust
