*Contract to hireLocation is Rocky Hill, CT* Job Description: Contract-to-Hire Technical Writer (some experience): The technical writers on staff are involved in the everyday deadlines associated with the health care regulatory cycle. This means that being able to meet challenges quickly and accurately is a must. You must be willing to constantly learn new software and be open to learning healthcare regulatory information. You will be encouraged to ask questions, develop better solutions, and help make the documentation more efficient. We are a very client-centric company and the documentation team members regularly interact (directly/indirectly) with clients for their feedback. Our technical writers write and research their own content. You must be able to troubleshoot, research, learn, adapt, and think independently. You must also be an effective team player and be able to accept multiple revisions and a high level of constructive criticism. Essential Job Functions: 1. Maintain user manuals and online help systems for a large and active product suite (approx. 350 + products). 2. Work directly with C and COBOL developers and regulatory/business analysts. 3. Work directly with product management, client services, and the integration team to communicate product information. 4. Research and be able to effectively document regulatory healthcare updates, as well as technical changes. 5. Be able to research independently, without direction, as well as alongside team members. 6. Respond to documentation-related questions/concerns from clients/client services. 7. Be deadline driven and able to change course at a moment’s notice. 8. Be willing to adapt to new technologies and processes in a small amount of time. 9. Successfully communicate with many different departments within Optum. Requirements: 1. Bachelor’s Degree 2. Minimum 1 - 2 years of holding the title of Technical Writer. Not more than 5 years experience. 3. Must be willing to provide writing samples. 4. Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint 5. Adobe Acrobat Reader 6. Detail orientated, thorough, very organized. 7. Experience working in professional office setting. 8. Be able to successfully work on a team and as an individual. 9. Eager to learn. 10. Can-do attitude. 11. Can handle a large amount of constructive criticism from multiple reviewers.* Beneficial Skills: 1. Familiarity with software development life cycle. 2. Software documentation experience (user’s guides, release notes, etc.). 3. Adobe FrameMaker 4. Adobe RoboHelp 5. TechSmith SnagIt 6. Microsoft SharePoint 7. Adobe Photoshop 8.
