I have an urgent need for an Oracle DBA with Oracle Spatial experience. This is part of a migration of Oracle databases from Windows 2003 servers to Windows 2008R2 servers. The client is State of Minnesota and the city is Minneapolis, MN. This is a 6-12 month contract. Please send qualified candidates right away. They will hire off of phone! *Engagement Description: *The project is to move and migrate MNDOT's current Oracle databases that reside on Windows 2003 Servers to supported operating systems. MNDOT's current Oracle database versions are Oracle 9i, 10G, & 11G. Some of these Oracle databases have a spatial component and application dependency. The new database environments will reside on Linux Oracle Real Application Cluster (RAC) and Windows 2008R2 servers. The project needs a Database Developer/Administrator with basic DBA skills, knowledge and experience in database migration, experience with PL/SQL, and knowledge of Oracle Spatial. The candidate should be experienced in database development and administration, with strong PL/SQL skills, and some knowledge of Oracle spatial to support a project team. The ideal candidate should be able to walk into MnDOT, review the current environments, review the new environments, and make recommendations on a migration or upgrade, and the implement a solution. Candidates should be comfortable communicating with and presenting to groups of experienced professionals on a regular basis. The candidate's knowledge and expertise with Oracle databases, database migrations, and PL/SQL will be called upon on a daily basis. The candidate will be responsible for: Designing the migration or upgrade process for the Oracle databases that exist on Windows 2003 servers to new server environments. Migrate non-spatial Oracle databases fr0m Windows 2003 servers to Windows 2008R2 servers. Migrate non-spatial Oracle databases fr0m Windows 2003 servers to Linux servers. Update spatial Oracle 9i databases on Windows 2003 servers to Oracle 11G on either Linux or Windows 2008R2 servers. Update spatial Oracle 10G databases on Windows 2003 servers to Oracle 11G on either Linux or Windows 2008R2 servers. Database administration. Assist in the maintenance and updating of in-house applications. At a high level, configure server operating systems to maximize the use of Oracle. Ensure scheduled loading routines are converted and managed in the new server environments. Testing migration processes. Validating migration processes with business stewards. Support additional operational and maintenance and system enhancement requests as required. Mentor existing database staff on the administration, management, operation and maintenance of the new environments. The State reserves the right to request face to face interviews.
