*JOB TITLE: JAVA DEVELOPER PRIMARY SKILLS: ANYONE OF THESE (NAGIOS, WHATSUPGOLD, HARDCAT), JAVA, J2EE LOCATION: AUSTIN, TX DURATION: 1+ YEAR * *Description:* Senior Java Developer will primarily be responsible for working interdependently with a team of architects and developers to design, develop and implement business applications supporting initiatives. This includes, but is not limited to working with a team lead to design application frameworks, create technical specifications, provide leadership and guidance to development teams, and to provide enhancements and new development to an existing suite of applications, while adhering to standards and guidelines within the organization. This role will be part of the Solution Development Team. *Primary Responsibilities* include but are not limited to the following: • Designs, codes, and tests technical solutions for multi-tier and multi-layered systems. • Provides effective communication regarding issues, objectives, initiatives and performance. • Creates well designed, reusable objects. • Understands the benefits of the various design methodologies and object oriented environments. • Provide architecture vision, integration and problem solving on an enterprise level - Create design patterns to convey the architecture concepts. • Understands functional design requirements. • Assists in physical and logical database design. • Identifies system deficiencies and recommends solutions. • Creates technical specifications for systems and feature implementation. • Ensures that all development practices are in compliance with employer's best practices, policies and procedures. • Assures the viability, functionality and effectiveness of essential tools. • Understands the necessity of and contributes to establishing and enforcing coding standards. • Creates and performs training sessions for developers. • Shares acquired skills with team members through formal and informal methods. • Prioritizes multiple tasks effectively. • Communicate effectively with other disciplines including other Architects, Developers, Project Management, Quality Assurance, Product Management, Infrastructure/Communications, Engineers, and Production Support. • Assist in producing technical documentation. *Basic Qualifications:* • Bachelor’s Degree or 10 years of software development experience • Minimum 5 years of experience with Java/J2EE * Preferred Qualifications:* • Master’s Degree, or higher, in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field • Experience with monitoring systems involving complex integrations of custom/COTS software (e.g. Nagios, WhatsUpGold, Hardcat--asset and preventive maintenance modules) *• Experience in Java system design and development, familiar with Java development tools and frameworks such as Eclipse IDE, JPA, Spring framework, Message Queue programming. • Expert object oriented development and Java design pattern experience. *• *5 years of experience working with multiple key relational database management system (RDBMS) platforms and related tools such as SQL Server, Oracle and/or DB2 is a plus* • WebSphere or WebLogic experience (IBM Rational Application Developer (RAD) version 6.x or 7.x is a plus); • Experience in Web Services standards and Service Oriented Architecture, experience in JSON is a plus • Familiar with network programming using TCP/IP, UDP, FTP, POP3/SMTP etc. • Experience working with security protocols for secure transmission of sensitive data.
