*-Performance Test Engineer-6+ Months Contract with a possibility of extension-Must work in Oakbrook Terrace, IL Description of Role:* We're looking for a Performance Test Engineer who will be responsible for performance testing of our customer facing and service based applications. This role is a demanding, highly dynamic, technically challenging performance test position. You must have a passion for performance testing and working with technical teams to help identify root cause of performance issues. The ideal candidate will have the ability to be a self-starter, learn on the go and come up to speed on systems quickly with minimal supervision. *Responsibilities:* *Model, Create and execute performance tests for web and web service applications *Write SQL queries to create data and backup/restore SQL Server databases *Help non-technical folks establish performance SLAs *Create dynamic performance test scripts and accurate performance test scenarios *Analyze performance test results and present conclusions to technical folks who can help find root cause *Create performance test plans to clearly communicate the tests and expected results *Document overall testing status for releases, and communicate results and recommendations to team *Works with other IT and technology teams to refine technical specifications for test analysis and quality assurance *Effectively communicate with developers, architects, DBAs and other QA analysts *Actively participate in team processes and use of methodologies, including customized flavors of Agile *Log defects in defect tracking system and follow entered defects through lifecycle of creation to resolution *Follow all established Redbox QA policies and procedures *Required Skills:* * Expert knowledge of TFS Performance Test Tool or other performance test tool such as LoadRunner or Jmeter * Working knowledge of different types of performance tests and when to apply them * Knowledge of performance counters and which ones to monitor * Strong SQL skills with MS SQL Server * Solid .NET administration * Excellent .NET and SQL Server performance monitoring knowledge * Solid understanding of software development life cycle, where performance testing fits in with that life cycle * Solid understanding of defect management and experience following a defect through from creation to closure. Strong written and verbal communication skills; Needs to be proactive and assertive in getting the information needed to perform QA duties if requirements are not completely defined * Ability and aptitude to learn quickly and work within a team environment *Nice To Have:* * Experience using network monitoring tools such as WireShark * Experience using profiling tools such as ANTS or similar * Extrahop and SPLUNK *Education/Experience:* Bachelor's degree and 5+ years of hands on performance testing experience.
