*Job Description:*

Performance Engineer - responsible for leading the performance aspect of
Gap’s releases.

Oversee the design, implementation and execution of performance,
scalability and resiliency testing to achieve a stable Server and Database
design, responsible to ensure that the product meets its performance
criteria.

Responsible for leading and be able to lead initiatives while winning the
support of the team.

Project Manager Skills:

Create a plan for successful execution; have visibility to what employees
are working on.

Performance Expert

 5+ years’ experience and a thought leader in that area Methodical and
Process-Oriented

Believes in repeatable processes and process improvement.

Team Player, works with peers and achieves results through team work and
not through individual persistence.

Project Manager Skills:

Create a plan for successful execution; have visibility to what employees
are working on.

Customer-Oriented – Treats stakeholders as customers; is able to work
across diverse engineering teams to build a performance infrastructure that
is used by developers and QA engineers while providing executive level
visibility into results.

5-10 years’ experience required.

Performance Engineer

The Performance Engineer is responsible for enabling Gap’s agile-based
project teams to self-manage the performance of their services and
applications.

Key responsibilities include:

• Pair with development and operations engineers on performance test
creation, results analysis, and bottleneck troubleshooting in both
pre-Production and Production environments.

• Recommend and assist with performance-based architectural changes.

• Implement tools / frameworks to automate performance testing and analysis
of Gap’s services and mobile apps in the CI pipeline.

Requirements include 10+ years of experience in:

• Performance analysis of application stacks that include Java, Linux, iOS
mobile applications, relational databases

• Java development

• Programming with Ruby or other scripting languages

• JMeter, Blazemeter, or other performance testing tools and AppDynamics or
other APM tools

Performance engineer notes from meeting:

Pair and teach team the ropes

J meter experience

Able to write scripts/frameworks/tools to make it easier for the team

Knowledge of java

Wants to solve performance problem “look under the hood” type of engineer

Dev ops – scripting/deep diving work Ruby/python/Perl/Linux/shell –
scripting

We need to see candidates with Performance Analysis/Software development
experience that are performance analysis driven.
