Associate Software Engineer contract opportunity for 6 months +
SUMMARY:
This position is responsible for delivering successful technical solutions.
The individual is responsible for development and support activities in
domain with supervision and guidance.
*PROJECT ACCOUNTABILITIES:*
- Under general direction, performs analysis, designs, programs, tests,
debugs, implements, and maintains applications and sites that meet the
department’s and organization’s needs.
- Provides assistance to team members to research and define user
requirements
and understand their needs, address those needs.
- Assists team members to formulate system scope, objectives,
requirement and detailed design specifications of application modifications
and new systems.
- Provides information to development schedules for assigned projects.
- Codes, tests, and deploys a range of application changes,
enhancements, and new system features as required. Manages data within
relational databases.
- Maintains communication with customers to ensure systems meet
requirements.
- Prepares appropriate documentation for all program modifications and
new development.
- Provides timely and up-to-date status of assigned tasks and identifies
problem areas early.
- Communicates with and coordinates activities with other members of the
Development team.
*Provide Support for Solution Team. *
- Works with direction from team members to develop, maintain and
improve critical internal and external production applications.
- Assists team members to identify, diagnose and remediate production
system issues.
- Provides timely status updates of projects and assigned tasks to the
Project Manager, and leadership.
- Researches the changing marketplace to keep current with technology
and upgrades.
*The following are ancillary position responsibilities:*
- Provides production system support as needed or required.
- Performs other duties as assigned
*Required / Desired Skills, Experience and Education:*
*Must Have:* Java EE, Experience with UI and Web Design Experience, SQL,
Maven, relational databases
*Nice to Have:* JUnit, technical design documentation, XML, UML, Weblogic,
Web Development technologies (HTML/JavaScript/CSS)
*Other Technologies in Use:* JSP, Spring
Minimum Education: Two-year technical degree. However, upon evaluation,
equivalent related experience and/or education may be substituted for the
degree requirement.
Minimum Experience: One to two years technical work experience preferably
in a Web or Internet development environment; however, upon evaluation,
coursework in this technology may be substituted for the required work
experience.
Key Knowledge: Basic knowledge of the development life cycle including
testing process and methods, variable programming fundamentals, conditional
execution, data structures, compilation and debugging tools.
Key Skills: Ability to work effectively with supervision, a self-starter,
self-motivated team player able to work in a fast paced dynamic
environment. Attention to detail with a quality focus. Possess and
demonstrate strong organizational, analytical and problem solving skills;
self-directed and able to work effectively independently or within project
teams.
