We are a fun, high-energy organization seeking results-driven,
team-oriented, self-motivated professionals who combine technical
experience with business acumen and effective communication skills for the
position of Software Engineer. In this challenging role, you will be part
of an agile development team using current technologies like Java, XML, and
REST-based web services for developing core features on global online and
search platforms, including Data Room. The Data Room is a cloud-based
strategic platform that provides capabilities via a set of standardized web
services making the platform product-neutral to meet the demands of our
changing business. Our ideal candidate has a Bachelor’s degree in a
computer related field and 3 years of software development experience.
*Key Responsibilities *
• Develop new features for applications and collaborate with business unit
and other developers on potential solutions
• Organize and prioritize group tasks for key project initiatives,
architecture investments, and support
• Recognize and communicate opportunities to add value through the
application of new technologies
• Analyze, design, implement and test new features using the following
technologies: Java, Oracle, SQL, XML
• Provide timely and accurate written and oral communication of status to
team, project and technical leads
• Work on multiple projects and manage time effectively
• Gather requirements, design, code, test and implement according to design
specifications
• Advocate test first TDD practices and other initiatives to build in
quality to development deliverables
• Consult with project lead on identification of problems and suggest
solutions for the resolution of coding issues
• Seek out new technologies and ideas to add value to our products
• Work with leaders to execute projects to successful delivery
• Re-engineer current systems to allow for flexibility, stability, and
scalability while preserving existing functionality
• Investigate and resolve issues in development, test and production
environments
• Learn quickly and independently, stay on top of emerging technologies,
applying learnings to solutions
• Produce and maintain detailed technical and business documentation for
platform features, assigned tasks and projects
• Leverage OO designs and apply working knowledge of design patterns, data
and business modules
• Collaborate with software engineers on design decisions and direction for
application requirements
• Contribute to and validate implementation strategies in data modeling,
data replication, performance and tuning, database and SQL optimization in
the Oracle environment
• Contribute to requirement and design reviews with business partners and
other engineers
• Discover new technologies and techniques and adapt to dynamic business
requirements

Qualifications, Experience, Knowledge and Skills
• Bachelors Degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering
or related software technology field, or demonstrated job experience
equating to a Bachelors Degree
• Ability to work in a fast-pace environment
• Good verbal and written communication skills
• Experience in the following technologies to research, evaluate, develop
and test using
o Java J2EE or based application development
o XML parsing using Java
o IDE & Enterprise Source Code Control tools (e.g. Eclipse or MS Visual
Studio & TFS)
o Relational database (e.g. SQL, DB2/Oracle 9 or higher)
