Seeking a DevOps Web Engineer to transform infrastructure for a
multi-billion dollar eCommerce site using leading open-source technologies.
The ideal candidate will have experience managing Cassandra or Riak
clusters.
MUST HAVE SKILLS/EXPERIENCE
- Strong background in an Agile/DevOps culture
- Experience working in large, fast-paced organizations with many moving
pieces
Multiple years experience with:
- Managing NoSQL clusters (Riak/Cassandra)
- Linux environments
- Development with Ruby, Perl, Python or Java
- Emerging web technologies
- Agile development
- Git or SVN
- Virtualization
- Chef or Puppet
SKILLS/EXPERIENCE
- Solid understanding of TCP/IP networking
- Fluid programming with Ruby, PHP, or Java as well as JavaScript, HTML,
and CSS
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to be available for a L2-L3 rotating 24/7 on-call schedule (as
needed).
Experience implementing technologies such as:
- Tomcat or JBoss
- Java or Ruby based environments
- Graphite, Ganglia, Nagios or similar
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Design, develop, and improve infrastructure.
- Represent operations and standardize best practices on infrastructure.
- Manage a multi-origin, zero-downtime, highly-scalable web
infrastructure.
- Manage a technically focused team and represent operational needs
across engineering teams.
- Build, scale, and secure infrastructure, focusing specifically on a
Linux environment.
- Develop operational practice for technologies like Opscode Chef; Basho
Riak; Cassandra; Tomcat; Apache; Nginx; Sensu; Splunk; Graphite; Solr.
- Perform zero-downtime deployments across multiple globally distributed
origins.
- Focus on building solutions from scratch or using leading open-source
technologies.
- Focus on quality solutions that may be open-sourced, like Opscode Chef
cookbooks, via the Apache 2.0 license.
- Assist in day-to-day activities with the DataCenter/Cloud team.
