*Role: MS SQL Database Administrator* *Location: Atlanta, GA* *Duration: 6 Months+* *Interview: Telephonic/Skype* *Job Description:* · Client is performing the migration of over 30 SQL Server 2008-2012 instances from a Polyserve appliance to individual VM Ware instances. The migration will require installation and configuration of the new SQL Server VMWare instances and will leverage SQL Server mirroring technology. · The effort also include the migration of SQL Server instances between Virtual servers (VMware to VBlock) This candidate will provide senior level technical expertise in supporting the project and interacting with multiple IT matrix teams. This position will report to Sr. Data Services Manager and it requires in depth knowledge of SQL Server mirroring and SQL Server administration. Familiarity with Polyserve and Commvault is a plus. *Responsibilities:* • Work with DBA, OS and Hardware team to gather application specific database information as part of migration analysis • Coordinate work tasks for the migration with Project and DBA Sr. Manager • Review current Polyserve instance configuration and perform performance comparison between old and new environments leveraging OS and database performance gathering tools to identify performance bottlenecks. • Migrate SQL server instances between Virtual servers • Implement new backup/recovery strategies on all database systems using CommVault. • Troubleshoot database/server performance/configuration issues that could impact to the migration. • Collaborate with Client DBA Team lead on all activities related to the migration. • Install and configure SQL Server 2008-2012 instances. *Skills/Experience Required:* Minimum five (5) years SQL Server DBA experience (SQL Server 2008, 2008 R2, 2012) • Extensive experience with VMWare and SQL Server virtualized databases • Experience with SQL Server Mirroring and other high availability methods such as AlwaysOn and Log Shipping • Experience with performance monitoring tools such as perfmon, sqlprofile and SQL Server DMV objects • Demonstrates excellent communication, organizational and follow up skills. Experience in collaborating with other technology professionals in a multi-facility environment. • Demonstrates advanced ability to reasonably estimate technical work effort as it relates to projects and work volume.
