*Senior Network Systems Engineer Virginia*

Our client specializes in providing technology management to small and
mid-sized organizations.  They provide an innovative and cost effective
solution for all the technology needs of an organization; whether
logistical, operational, administrative or purely technical.  Currently we
are seeking a Sr. Network Engineer to join the Arlington, VA location.

This position will require some travel throughout the MD, VA and DC areas
in support of our client’s customers.

*Description:*

Senior Technology Staff will design, install, configure and maintain
Microsoft network and systems architecture for the customers of our
client.  This position requires a high degree of hands-on knowledge in the
administration and troubleshooting of systems, servers, Internet networks,
Active Directory, VMWare architectures, storage area networks, and remote
backup and restoration technologies.

*Essential Duties and Responsibilities:*

   - Install, configure, and maintain network hardware, systems, services,
   equipment, and devices.
   - Work with Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS) and Internet carriers
   to monitor and apply performance-enhancing changes to network architectures
   where needed.
   - Plan and support network and computing infrastructure.
   - Perform administration of servers and server clusters.
   - Design and manage system back-up and restore protocols.
   - Design and administer software and network security.
   - Monitor system performance and implement performance tuning.
   - Perform troubleshooting analysis of servers, workstations, and
   associated systems.  Document network problems and resolutions for future
   reference.
   - Document (and maintain documentation for) all aspects of hardware,
   networks, and systems including key standards and processes.
   - Manage user accounts, permissions, and email, anti-virus, and
   anti-spam programs.
   - Manage all aspects of IT-related projects for client’s customers,
   including implementations, upgrades, migrations, etc.
   - Manage relationships with customers and vendors to drive success and
   customer retention.
   - Mentor and direct the work of junior staff.

*Supervisory/Budget Responsibilities:*

   - This position sets the certification benchmarking protocol for our
   client’s technicians, which directly impacts the organization’s
   education/training budget.
   - This position has a direct impact on and feedback into purchasing
   decisions regarding network equipment and server requirements.

*Required Education and Experience:*

   - This position requires a 4-year degree, with the preference for a
   technical major such as Computer Science, Information Technology, or a
   related field.
   - The following certifications are desired: MCSE, CCNA, CCNP, ITIL, and
   COBIT.

*Required Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:*

   - 5 to 8 years of network administration, design, and execution is
   required.
   - Significant prior experience and the demonstrated ability to be
   successful in a client-focused environment are required.
   - 3-5 years of management-related experience is preferred.
   - Experience with the following systems is required: Windows, Cisco
   Systems, SonicWall, UNIX, Linux, and SAN.
   - Experience in the following areas is required: switches, routers,
   hubs, servers, cables, racks, firewalls, LAN, WAN, TCP/IP, DNS, UDP,
   Latency, VPN, Terminal Services, VoIP, QoS, EIGRP, BGP, OSPF, NHRP, PPP,
   VMWare virtualization, Active Directory, and MPLS.
   - This position must have an understanding of both in-house systems
   architecture and Cloud-based architectures.
   - This position must possess strong analytical abilities and the ability
   to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional
   journals, technical procedures, and/or governmental regulations.
   - This position must possess excellent communication skills with the
   ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals,
   as well as providing clear communications via email to customers and
   business associates.
   - This position must have the ability to interpret a variety of
   instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
   - This position must possess the demonstrated ability to effectively
   manage projects, solve problems, and identify solutions in a manner that is
   beneficial to clients as well as colleagues.

*Training Requirements:*

   - The incumbent in this position will be required to maintain
   certifications and keep current on key technologies utilized by our client
   and its customers.
