Job Description:

The  Business Analyst, acts as an intermediary between the business
community and the technical community working with IT project teams and
business clients to collect, clarify, and translate business requirements
into documentation and conceptual design (using appropriate tools and
models) from which applications and solutions are developed. Responsible
for researching best practices to improve new and existing information
technology processes.



ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

•             Owner of the six (6) business analyst areas (business
analysis planning and monitoring, elicitation, requirements management and
communication, enterprise analysis, requirements analysis, solution
assessment, and validation).

•             Configuration of IBM Maximo Enterprise Asset Management
system based on customer requirements

•             Partners with business and technology partners to elicit,
analyze, and document business and technical requirements in addition to
conducting user acceptance testing.

•             Analyze, document, and test program development, logic,
process flows, and specifications.

•             Prepares Feasibility Analysis and Business Cases documents

•             Creates user manuals to describe application installation,
and operating procedures.

•             Maintains Enterprise document library including business
process, requirements management, and report inventory.

•             Researches and interviews internal stakeholders to determine
current and future operating procedures related to products and services
offered.

•             Edits material for reports, manuals, briefs, proposals,
catalogs, and publications that relate to the installation, operation, and
maintenance of operating equipment (e.g. both hardware and software).

•             Validates the existing documented process flows to ensure the
logical sequence of their output.

•             Organizes all material for conciseness, style, and consistent
terminology.

•             Active participant in software development processes
including Scrum/Agile.

•             Key contributor and owner in SDLC and release management
process.

•             Creates business cases with accurate cost estimations and
participates in full project lifecycle modeling.

•             Provides a level of effort estimation, and manages
vendor/system evaluation scoring.

•             Works with Enterprise Architect, technical, and functional
staff in crafting business solutions.

•             Performs other duties and projects as assigned at the
discretion of the Manager, Enterprise Applications.



MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

•             Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Communications,
English, or related field from an accredited college or university with
five (5) years of progressive specialized experience in broad utility
information technology designing, building, and/or working with an array of
utility systems. Or equivalent combination of education and experience.



OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

Specialized experience should include:

•             Work experience as a business analyst with a utility

•             *Hands on Experience configuring IBM Maximo*

•             Excellent understanding of business complexity and project
interdependencies.

•             Ability to adapt quickly to new technologies and changing
business requirements.

•             Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.

•             Ability to quickly troubleshoot problems that may arise in
work products.

•             Ability to partner with software engineers, quality analysts,
to identify course of resolutions.

•             Strong understanding of basic system engineering,
object-oriented design, information risk and security guidelines, and
architecture standards.

•             Modeling Techniques: Object Orientation analysis, UML (e.g.
Use Cases, Activity Diagrams, and Process Flows).

•             In depth understanding of various software development
lifecycles (e.g. Agile, RUP, and Waterfall).

•             Demonstrated experience in writing software requirements and
test specifications.

•             Strong leadership, problem solving, and communication skills
together with strong business and technical knowledge.

•             Knowledge of the Carnegie Melon Capability Maturity Model
(CMMI) and BI tools.
