Job Title: Cisco Engineer Location: Raleigh, NC Duration: 12 Months 10+ years of experience. Local candidates preferred. State gov experience preferred In person interview This position is a senior Cisco network and firewall engineer, and will support the NC Department of Information Technology (DIT) redesign and implementation of the NC DIT / DOT firewall infrastructure that supports all NCDOT data and voice network services in the field and at NC DIT and DOT data centers. This staff will provide consultation, design, and implementation support of new configurations and policy as the prior architecture is migrated to the new data center solution that OITS is designing and deploying. This staff must have advanced Cisco data, voice and specifically ASA firewall experience designing, implementing and maintaining complex data center environments, utilizing the latest Cisco ASA firewall, LAN switching and routing products, software and technologies. Extensive senior experience is required in analyzing and assessing as-built Cisco ASA firewall policy, identifying opportunities and designing new policy as needed to support policy goals/requirements and the new infrastructure architecture. Experience with the latest data center firewall and LAN switching technologies and disciplines is required. This staff will be part of a team of NCDOT network engineers supporting a mixed environment of Cisco, Avaya (formerly Nortel Enterprise) LAN equipment, Riverbed, and Meraki products in the NCDOT network infrastructure which may contribute to the design and implementation considerations. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Requirements: Required: Hands-on senior experience implementing and supporting current Cisco ASA firewall products for access, distribution, core and data center solutions. 2+ years senior experience. Extensive knowledge of current Cisco ASA firewall architecture, solutions, product set and features. Hands-on senior experience implementing and supporting current Cisco LAN switching products for access, distribution, core and data center solutions. 2+ years senior experience. Extensive knowledge of current Cisco LAN switching and routing architecture, solutions, product set and features. Knowledge and experience with current Cisco IDS/IPS or other vendor data center class IDS/IPS products. Experience designing, implementing and supporting network segmentation in a data center environment. Senior level knowledge of TCP/IP networking, IP subnetting, and networking technologies. Senior level troubleshooting skillset related to LAN and WAN technologies, such as data capture and analysis. Ability to professionally document proposals and as-built network solutions. Preferred: A minimum of 10 years experience in IT including demonstrated experience in various technical disciplines. A minimum of 5 years direct hands-on experience with Cisco ASA firewall products. A minimum of 5 years direct hands-on experience with Cisco LAN switching and routing products.
