<p><strong>Notes from the manager:</strong></p> <p>Our LDAP needs are likely 
pretty trivial for anyone who’s experienced with it. Here goes: we offer a 
software appliance that syncs with LDAP, so we basically suck users and groups 
out of it and maintain the sync to keep us up to date with what we read from 
LDAP. What we don’t have is an automated way to test our LDAP sync feature with 
an LDAP system that contains an enterprise-like amount of data: hundreds of 
thousands of users in different groups, users that have been retired but not 
deleted because they left the org, etc. We currently only test in the hundreds 
of users, and we do so manually.</p> <p>Our utopia is to have an automated test 
that runs in our CI system that verifies each build with a very realistic LDAP 
system. It would initiate a sync with some group(s) of users and verify that 
all was sync’ed correctly. We would also need the setup code that creates the 
LDAP system’s test data to be usable on other instances of LDAP that we would 
spin up elsewhere on demand for performance testing, etc. We’d also prefer to 
use AD as our provider (using AD’s LDAP interface as the query interface).</p>
