The functional consultant has to understand the Remedy modules they are
implementing and the set up and configuration options available, the key
skill is being able to map the requirements of the customer to the
capabilities of the Remedy.

1. A functional consultant is expected to generate knowledge about the
current support processes, document current process flows, study current
support processes and its complication - in all we can say that this is
getting through with the current business setup. Flow diagrams existing
application data, taxonomy etc are prepared, all this forms the part of the
AS IS document. Several elements of this document may contribute to the
mandatory requirement for process behavior in Remedy 7; these then have to
be approved by the process owner. Mapping and GAP analysis is done for each
module

2. Functional consultant will design the “desired process” for each
module. This will define the workflow, policy, data input, output, KPI,
measurements, roles and responsibilities. This “desired process” will be
signed off by process owner.

3. The process document will be translated into the functional
specification that describes how the workflow will actually function in
Remedy module. For example what rule should be enforced under what
condition?

4. Functional consultant is responsible to prepare the Remedy
Application data with well defined taxonomy standards. He is also
responsible to prescribe the data management solution including the user
profile management in Remedy.

5. Functional consultant is also expected to prepare test scripts for
testing the configured scenarios. Testing may also include Unit testing,
System Integration Testing, Performance Testing, User Acceptance Testing, or
any client specific testing.

6. End user manual and user training is also expected from Functional
Consultants.

7. A Functional consultant has to be a good communicator he has to
communicate with process owner (Normally customer role), Remedy implementing
team/Technical consultant and his project leader. Written communication
skill is to be demonstrated by a functional consultant to e-mail to
different groups, documentation about the Remedy. Verbal communication is to
understand the requirement, interact with customer, to explain and convince
the customer.
