*Title: Sr Java Developer*
*Location: Cincinnati OH*
*Duration: 6months*
*Position Description:*
The Developer will be actively part of a highly functioning SAFe Agile
team, responsible for making ideas reality on the brand-new customer
platform. The Developer is responsible for leading the design,
development, testing, deployment, support and documentation of solutions
delivered, with the highest of quality and in accordance to standards.
Every 10 weeks, the Developer will participate in PI planning;
collaborating with fellow team members to breakdown features into user
stories, with a focus on delivering quality shippable product every 2
weeks. The person will serve as a role model who demonstrates the
company’s core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion
and safety of others.
Current tools and technologies include:
*Java, Javascript, AngularJS, GIT, Spring, SQL, JSP, Websphere, Eclipse,
Ant, Maven, Cassandra, IBM PureData for Analytics (Netezza)*
*Requirements:*
- Proven success developing Java web applications associated with large
scale projects
- 3+ years of rapid web development, using HTML, Java, JavaScript, ,
JSP, Perl, XML, and Spring MVC framework
- 3+ years experience with SQL
- High-functioning, self-driven, motivated and curious.
- Do not wait for others to solve a problem – get behind the wheel and
drive the solution!
- Excels in team related competencies including: Solution Architecture,
Data warehousing, Data Modeling, Development, Testing and Documentation.
- Leads by setting the right example – in problem solving, testing,
documenting and communicating.
- Proficient in Agile methodologies and effectively participates in
related ceremonies.
- Active participant in PI (effective in breaking down features to
workable user stories that focus on delivery of business value), sprint
planning, standups & showcases.
- Effective in building architecturally sound solutions for massive data
volumes.
- Amplifies the art of what is possible, by bringing forth forward
thinking solutions.
- Champion company standards and best practices. Work to continuously
improve solution delivery processes and practices.
*Preferred:*
A successful candidate will have the majority of the following:
- Background in building and designing REST APIs
- An understanding of the TCP/HTTP protocols
- No SQL Database background is a plus
- Experience with load testing (Jmeter, etc.)
- A solid understanding of web application development processes
- Familiarity with GIT/STASH, Maven, and Websphere a plus
- Eagerness and flexibility to learn cross functional roles on an agile
team
- Ability to interact effectively in a team environment.
- Ability to quickly learn and apply new skills.
- BA/BS/MS – Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Industrial
Engineering.
- Participate in the application technical design process.
- Develop programming specifications. Design, code and unit test
application code using SDLC best practices.
- Complete estimates and work plans as appropriate for design,
development, implementation and rollout tasks.
- Create technical system documentation and ensure that this
documentation remains current throughout all phases of the SDLC.
- Communicate timely status, including any potential risks/issues to the
appropriate teams to ensure that assignment releases are managed
appropriately and that completed assignments are of the highest quality.
- Support and maintain applications utilizing required tools and
technologies. Provide support for applications, including involvement with
the Support Center, NOC, Infrastructure teams, and vendors as appropriate.
- Build partnerships across the application, business and infrastructure
teams.
