*Title:* Sr. Firmware Engineer
*Location:* Monroe, NC
*Job Description:*
This is an exciting opportunity for the selected individual who has the
required skill sets combined with a strong desire to make a difference
within our innovative product development team.
*Skill Requirements:*
*Education*
- Minimum: Bachelor Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer
Engineering, or Computer Science and 10+ years of embedded firmware
development experience.
- Preferred: Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer
Engineering, Computer Science or related field.
*Key operational responsibilities*
- Develop and maintain embedded and application software for various
systems.
- Support simulations and algorithm development.
- Create reliable Software solutions in compliance with internal and
external requirements.
- Contribute in the definition of specification of new projects and
prepare Software specifications based on functional specifications of
related subsystems.
- Design Software in close cooperation with the project hardware
engineer to developed system test procedures.
- Performing functional tests of Software modules, subsystems and
applications using test tools as well as defined test plans.
- Observe the embedded design market, new technologies and tools for
software and hardware development for continuous improvement.
*Experience / Technical Skills:*
- Experience developing for various RTOS and Application environments
including Micrium uC, MS Windows CE, MS Windows Embedded.
- Strong skills with programming in C, C++, C#;
- Strong skill in developing communications with low-level embedded
devices.
- Specific experience in developing wirelessHART API or communication
stack is highly desired and will be preferred.
- Strong understanding of I2C, USB, CAN, and SPI interfaces.
- Extensive experience developing embedded firmware on ARM, Microchip
PIC or other microprocessors
- Experience developing robust code using best practices such as MISRA C
and/or state machine design.
- Experience developing novel signal processing approaches with an
understanding of sensing systems a strong plus.
- Solid understanding FFT based frequency domain algorithms and
implementation of FIR and IIR filters.
- Experience designing complex DSP algorithms a strong plus.
- Familiar with Matlab, including signal processing and data analysis
toolbox
- In-depth understanding of electrical schematics and PCB layouts
- Ability to test code and hardware both with and/or without external
test equipment such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and debuggers.
- Experience in managing firmware designs to meet product requirements
from concept to production in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong leadership, interpersonal and teamwork skills.
- Experience providing project schedules to meet completion dates.
- Experience providing written technical specifications.
- Proficient with the English language, with excellent verbal and
written communication skill.
- Demonstrated ability of professionally representing the company to
both internal and external contacts -
- *Internal Contacts:* Marketing Team, Design Engineering, Service
Department, Test Engineering, Test Technicians, Project Managers, Quality
Engineers, and Manufacturing
- *External Contacts:* Product Distribution and Support, End Customers
