JOB DESCRIPTION:
Job Summary Design, develop (code), test, and debug applications.  Provide
experienced development and maintenance subject
matter expertise.  Maintain, enhance and provide solutions for software
applications.  Provide development leadership in a functional area, module,
or project.

Major Tasks, Responsibilities and Key Accountabilities
oWorks with stakeholders to perform application functionality gap analysis
and feasibility studies.
oLeads development activities for a functional area, module, or project.
Provides and documents technical design and specifications meeting business
and functional requirements.
oDevelops (code), implements and maintains tools/applications.  Ensures
applications and systems possess sufficient controls.
oPerforms unit testing prior to moving code/configuration to the QA
process.  Evaluates and researches upgrades, patches and new
functionality.   Researches defects and solve for root cause in
applications.
oAssists in the development and definition of test plans and scripts for
performance, regression and user acceptance test plans;
performs QA, pilot, and deployment activities as required.
oBuilds and maintains templates, rules, workflows, data extractions and
imports, and interfaces.
oAnalyzes applications for compliance with SOX and PCI requirements and with
security protocols.
o Trains team members on areas of expertise.  Participate in and lead peer
reviews.


Nature and Scope
oIdentifies key barriers/core problems and applies problem solving skills in
order to deal creatively with complex situations.
Troubleshoots and resolves complex problems.  Makes decisions under
conditions of uncertainty, sometimes with incomplete
information, that produce effective end results.
oIndependently performs assignments with instruction limited to results
expected, adhering to departmental policies, procedures, and conventions.
Determines and develops approach to solutions.  Receives technical guidance
only on unusual or complex problems or issues.
oMay oversee the completion of projects and assignments, including planning,
assigning, monitoring and reviewing progress and
accuracy of work, evaluating results, etc.  Contributes to employees
professional development but does not have hiring or firing
authority.
oProposes and implements improvements in departmental policies, procedures,
and conventions.
oProvides tier 2 and 3 help desk support
oRequires emergency on-call availability one week in four [if/once hired]


Work Environment
oMost of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is
frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there
may be a need to move or lift light articles.
oLocated in a comfortable indoor area.  Any unpleasant conditions would be
infrequent and not objectionable.
oTypically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time. [if/once
hired]
oEssential Skills

Minimum Qualifications
o Must be eighteen years of age
o Must pass the Drug Test
o Must pass the Background Check
o Must pass pre-employment tests if applicable

Education and Experience

oTypically requires BS/BA in related discipline plus 5-8 years of experience
in related field, or MS/MA plus 3-5 years of experience
in related field. Applicable certifications are beneficial.
oUnix administration and shell program language experience
o  4GL relational database programming
o  Quality Assurance testing and validation of program changes
o Remote end user support
o  Windows support
o MS Office (Excel, Word, & Outlook) support
o End user training

Preferred Qualifications

oUnify Accell/SQL relational database administration and programming
o  Progress relational database administration and programming
o C language programming within a Unix environment
o Retail POS programming and/or support
o  Oracle
o PCI and/or SOX compliance
o ERP support and/or migration
