Job Title : Configuration management Location : Austin, TX Duration : 6+ month contract Rate :Open * **** IMMEDIATE NEED A CONSULTANT MUST BE LOCAL TO TX ***** Position Overview Reporting to the Director of Software & Systems Engineering, the R&D software tools migration engineer will perform the migration of TippingPoint to HP development tool chains. This is a 6 month contract term renewable to 12months total. This position will be based in Austin, Texas.Specific Responsibilities The R&D software tools migration engineer will migrate software development tools such as version control systems, build systems, knowledge management and content management systems. This position will be responsible for the following: Migrate source code repositories from CVS to iSVN Migrate existing SVN repositories to iSVN Work with development managers and tools migration program manager to ensure smooth transition to new approved toolsets with minimal impact to product development resources and schedules Work with program managers and tools engineers at HP to understand the migration process and take necessary actions to complete the migration tasks Track the migration tasks as defined in the schedule and provide regular status updates to program manager Understand major technical issues, risks and roadblocks in the program and communicate them clearly to all affected stake holders with recommended solutions Follow up on action items and drive deliverables to closure on both the TippingPoint business unit side as well as corporate HP-IT/R&D integration leads Qualifications and Experience Education: BS in Computer Science or related field or equivalent experience. Masters preferred. More than 7 years experience in Software Configuration Management, greater than 5 years hands-on Build/Release experience. Experience in migrating version control systems from CVS to iSVN is a plus Excellent understanding of software build systems and configuration management systems Direct experience and expert level skills in CVS & Subversion in Windows and Linux Knowledge of creating builds with Ant scripts, build automation, with tools like Electric Cloud Knowledge of a scripting languages and other automation tools Strong customer service focus – this is a viewed as a service position within the Software Engineering teams Highly meticulous and detailed oriented with strong written, communication, and documentation, and presentation skills Goal oriented/high initiative/ Self Driven.
