Senior Application Analyst HOUSTON TEXAS Reports to: Manager, TX EMS Purpose: Maintains, provides operational support and continuous improvements to increase effectiveness of Energy Management System used for real-time monitoring, dispatch and control of Power plants. Responsibilities: Provide support to the whole suite of SCADA/Power/MV90 Applications built-in within the EMS system Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair the EMS applications and interfaces Support software development and implementation of TX nodal functionality in EMS Support, configure and install Remote Terminal Units Develop and implement application s/w improvements, database changes and interface updates while following best IT practices Identify software bugs, deficiencies, data quality issues and work with system vendor to test and integrate fixes in EMS Works closely with the EMS team, IT teams, end-users and system vendors to ensure proper operation of all SCADA and power applications Creates and build reports for the commercial operations users As part of 24/7 support team, provide on-call support to the business users Continually gain knowledge on operating procedures and protocols of deregulated electric markets Willing to assume additional or share responsibilities as per the changing needs of the team Qualifications: Job Requirements Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Engineering; Master’s Degree specializing in Electrical Engineering/Power Systems preferred. 3+ years of experience related to software development and integration of large scale real-time Energy Management Systems such as Ranger, Network Manager, or Monarch. Minimum of 3 years of SCADA experience in energy industry (preferably utility or EMS vendor). 5+ years experience with operating systems such as UNIX, Linux, and Windows 2003/XP. 3+ years experience with multiple programming languages (FORTRAN, C, C++, .NET. ORACLE, PL/SQL, XML), development tools and windows office suite. 2+ years experience with ERCOT, CAISO, or PJM real-time operation. Excellent organizational, verbal and written communication skills with a strong focus on customer facing interaction, customer service, and presentation. Must be good team player, quick learner, detailed oriented and able to multi task. Experience with the following third-party applications a plus: ABB’s Energy Management System; Telnet’s SAGE RTU and Itron’s MV90. A motivated self-starter that is able to work independently and in teams on tasks and projects with limited supervision. Capability to deliver quality business solutions within compressed timelines and delivery dates.
