HI *Position :Virtualization System Engineer* *(1 position)*
*Location: *Schenectady, NY (Albany NY area) – local candidate or candidate who can interview in-person needed- no travel expenses allotted for interview. *Travel %:* 0 *Duration of Assignment:* 18 months, start date is 11/1/2010 Need a System Engineer with the following qualifications * as soon as possible:* *SKILL SETS* Required: Minimum of three (3) years experience with Server Virtualization Technologies, such as IBM Virtual Input/Output (VIO) Servers using Advanced Power Virtualization (APV). At least one (1) year of that experience must be in the last 24 months. * * *DESIRABLE Experience Listed in order of importance: All experience a candidate claims to have must be clearly reflected in the candidate’s resume with precise indication of number of months or years.* *1.* Experience installing, configuring, administering and upgrading IBM/AIX systems. *2.* Experience installing, implement, and support the IBM Power 6 systems Virtual Input/Output (VIO) Servers using the Advanced Power Virtualization (APV) features. *3.* Experience installing, configuring, and administrating HP/Tru64/HPUX systems. *4.* Experience administering and configuring fiber SAN infrastructure. *5.* Experience installing, implement, and support the IBM Power 6 systems Virtual Input/Output (VIO) Servers using the Advanced Power Virtualization(APV) features. *6.* Experience installing, configuring, and upgrading Red Hat/Linux systems *7. *Experience installing, implement, manage, and support a secure file transfer solution across multiple file transfer sites or applications which meet the government regulatory compliances. *8*. Experience installing, configuring, and administering Apache or Tomcat, JBoss, Web Logic, or WebSphere application servers *9.*. Experience installing, configuring, and administering UNIX utilities such as Samba, SSH, SUDO *10.* Experience with system performance monitoring and analysis tools, such as Ganglia, IBM Director and BigBrother *11.* Experience administering with enterprise backup solutions, such as,“Tivoli Storage Manager or Veritas NetBackup *12.* Experience with other backup software such as Acronis True Image, and Unix backup applications, such as, Ignite, VDump, Tar. *13*. Experience virtualization solutions such as IBM P6, VMware Infrastructure, such as ESX server 3.5, VirtualCenter, Capacity Planner, P2V Converter *14*. Experience installing, configuring, and administering Sun Java System web server * * *Project: * With work continuing in upgrading legacy systems to Oracle 11g database environments, Customer is undertaking a mission to consolidate Oraclehardware platform and upgrade to Oracle 11g. Mission critical applications such as Time Information Management Electronic System, Community Services Expansion Plan, Quality Assurance, Financial Management System, Incident Reporting Management System, Internet Secured Applications, Business Operations Systems and Fleet Management System will be affected by this upgrade. This plan calls for the deployment of new Oracle 11g application server and 11g databases on the IBM /AIX Power 6 and Power 5 hardware. Contractors must have strong background installing, implement, and support IBM Power 6 systems Virtual Input/Output (VIO) Servers using the Advanced Power Virtualization (APV) features, administering and configuring fiber SAN infrastructure, installing, configuring, and administering and upgrading IBM/AIX systems. Contract staff will provide expertise and knowledge transfer involved with these upgrade projects. Contract staff will also assist with deployment, upgrades and administration of data backup solutions such as Sysback, Kick Start, Ignite and Veritas NetBackup. Administration of enterprise Data Storage systems and SAN Fiber infrastructures will be included. Contract staff will also assist staff in the maintenance of existing UNIX environments as well as providing much needed assistance with the creation of new system platforms. At present, the existing staff has insufficient resources to accommodate the additional workload. Minimum of three (3) years experience with Server Virtualization Technologies, such as IBM Virtual Input/Output (VIO) Servers using Advanced Power Virtualization (APV).
