*Location: **La Jolla**, CA*** *Start Date: **Immediate* *Duration: 6+ months ** * *No. Of Positions: **1* * * *Job Description* • Candidate must have at least 2 to 4 years of previous Teradata Operational DBA experience. • Must have worked in Teradata 12. • The DBA must have worked in Teradata datawarehouse environment and should be familiar with the tools like Teradata administrator, Teradata Manager, Viewpoint, Performance Monitor, Workload Analyzer, Teradata Sql Assistant, BTEQ etc. • Monitor and respond to Teradata Manager performance Alerts. • Perform proactive monitoring of Teradata database and handle issues proactively. • Review statistics selection periodically and suggest changes. • Diagnose and resolve all the database issues including spool space issues. Should document those and build a knowledge repository which can be used by other Operational DBAs. • Handle capacity planning and management. • Identify blocking sessions and work with users in getting it resolved. • Set up databases, roles, profiles, users etc. • Create, alter and drop objects (tables, views, triggers, procedures, macros etc.) in all the environments. • Deploy scripts in various environments, log errors and fix the issues. • Should possess good knowledge in writing sqls. Should be able to query dbc tables, query log etc. and should be able to write complicated queries. • Collaborate with IBM Server Hosting to get some of the work done through them including coordinating outages, getting user accounts created, changing backup schedule etc.. • Open help desk support tickets with Teradata and follow-up on them. • Should have good knowledge of ERWIN data model and should be able to generate scripts through ERWIN. • Perform troubleshooting of performance issues and resolve them. • Should be capable of doing explain plan and look for problem areas in the query. • Should have experience developing procedures, macros etc. • Monitor, recommend and maintain/adjust the Teradata Workload Management Tool settings based on the production workload. • Identify and report on worst-performing SQLs as candidates for tuning. • Analyze tables for candidate columns for compression and determine space savings. • Should be able to write bteq scripts. • Send report on system health on a regular basis.
