T**itle : Linux System Administrator Location : Lawrenceville, NJ. Duration : 3-6 months contract. Minimum Requirements: 1) Bachelor's degree in the life sciences and strong computer skills. 2) Finalist will be required to successfully complete a background check. 3) In-depth knowledge (5+ years) of Red Hat Linux 5 administration and multi-tier application production operations. 4) Experience with Linux performance monitoring, tuning, troubleshooting, and security. 5) Strong knowledge of Apache, Tomcat, PHP, Java, SMTP, DHCP, DNS, NIS, LDAP, CIFS, NFS, Postfix, BIND, SNMP, load balancers, and Linux system security. 6) Strong system configuration experience. 7) Experience with Linux/Unix high performance computing (HPC) applications, and Linux clustering technologies. 8) Ability to consult with and train HPC users in application and operating system fundamentals. 9) Ability to communicate technical information to a non-technical audience; superior communication skills needed in diverse cross-discipline environment. 10) Good working knowledge of a subset of standard bioinformatics, statistics, and analytical tools and packages, such as Matlab, MacVector, ImageJ, etc. 11) Experience with extracting, manipulating, and integrating data from public biological data repositories. 12) Advanced skills in programming language (e.g., C/C++) and a scripting language (e.g., Perl or Python). 13) Experience designing, configuring, maintaining MySQL or other db system. 14) Ability to collaborate and work as a team player within Computing Support group and scientific community is a must. A Master's degree or higher is preferred in Molecular Biology or Bioinformatics. Experience with Windows server environments and Active Directory is desirable. Experience with: LAMP server administration and Content Management Systems; in server virtualization; and in an academic environment are also preferred qualifications.
