Provides overall support and maintenance of operating systems and network connectivity for all AIX systems (SAN exp a +) . Monitors system performance on a daily basis to ensure adequate response times for production applications. . Establishes and documents procedures to ensure data integrity including system fail-over and backup/recovery. . Provides reliable backup services. Conducts routine hardware and software audits of AIX servers for compliance with established standards, policies, configuration guidelines, and procedures. . Provides recommendations to management on changes, upgrades, and new hardware as required. . Provides support to vendors and application programmers as necessary. . Maintains current operating systems, PTF levels, and patch versions that comply with vendor requirements. . Coordinates hardware repairs with appropriate vendors on supported platforms as necessary. . Performs research and development on new products, technologies, and operating systems as required.
