This position reports directly to our Director of Technology, and is responsible for ongoing development of our existing and new PHP-based projects, including Symfony and CodeIgniter framework development, Wordpress, Expression Engine, and custom development - depending on the scale and scope of a project. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: - Design and develop server components - Collaborating with others on design, development, testing, documentation and/or production support tasks - Adhere to team and department software development practices and guidelines - Effective communication with other team members - Understand and communicate project dependencies and risks in real-time as they are identified - Effectively estimate effort for project and interim milestone deliverables and tasks *Required Experience* - BS or MS in Computer Science or related technical field or equivalent experience - Strong Server-side Java Experience, at least 3 years - 3+ years experience Object Oriented PHP - Strong preference for 2+ years Symfony or Code Igniter PHP Framework experience - 2+ years experience with Web services and XML - 3+ years experience designing and developing applications with any Relational Database, with preferred experience dealing with large volume data - Knowledge of design patterns. - Experience with test-driven development and unit-testing frameworks a plus - Strong knowledge of algorithms, understanding of pros and cons of different types of data structures - Strong communication skills.
