We are looking for senior level/Architect top notch resource with end to
end expertise on Cognos, specifically Cognos 10.0. Please let me know if
you have anyone immediately available and would be interested. This is 12
Months+ assignment and would need the person to be based in Chicago
*Sr. BI Cognos Architect:*
Summary:
- Key source of Cognos 10 expertise for multiple BI developers in
analyzing and understanding business user reporting needs and creating
reports or other BI artifacts that fulfill those needs via a formal,
manageable process.
Key Skills:
- Deep expertise in Cognos 10 platform
- must be fluent in internal workings of core Cognos 10 components
and be able to convey this knowledge to others
- must understand data modeling constraints and methods of
optimization for Cognos 10 toolset
- must be able to understand conceptual models in depth and render
those models to the analytic engine of the Cognos 10 toolset
- works closely with information architect and database
administration to ensure optimum performance of the BI reporting system
- Leadership and coaching
- must demonstrate expertise in formal processes, methodologies, and
artifacts for executing BI development functions in a controlled and
repeatable manner with minimum duplication of effort
- must coordinate the efforts of multiple BI developers for
large-scale efforts
- must provide accurate assessments of time required to produce
reports in the chosen BI toolset
- must be able to provide training/mentoring to other BI developers
to increase their skill levels over time
- BI reporting design and development
- captures reporting requirements via interviews with the business
user or users that made the request
- documents reporting requirements in standard format
- analyzes reporting requirements to generate design documentation
relevant to the chosen BI toolset
- creates BI artifacts (i.e. reports, alerts, visualizations, etc.)
that satisfy reporting requirements
- works with business users to refine/adapt/maintain BI artifacts as
business user needs change or the data environment changes
- works closely with information architect to extend multidimensional
model when necessary to meet new business needs
- works closely with data stewards to validate data dictionaries and
other metadata for reporting data sources
- Communication
- must be able to clearly understand business user point of view and
communicate the nature of any gaps in the multidimensional model to the
information architect
Key Experience:
- 6+ years of experience
Optional Experience:
- BI Implementation for Finance
- BI tool server/system administration (role may assume this function)
- business analyst (relevant to requirements gathering, analysis and
design functions)
- project management (relevant to coordination functions)
