Strategy.

The ability to handle Test Execution.
The ability to scope a project time line.
Experience with iterative or Agile methodologies

The Back End experience required:
In this role, the consultant will be responsible for testing from the
backend of the application by exercising the application through a series
of developed scripts in Perl/Python/XML/SQL/Java. They will also be
responsible for

creating additional test scripts, which create a tool for them to use in
this testing.

testing.
Scripting knowledge in Perl and/or Python specifically for testing purposes

Ability to think through and document multiple (potential) test scenarios
with their corresponding test cases/scripts where requirements are not
formally documented.
SQL skills above the typical select statements will be needed such as
joins, stored procedures, triggers among other commands is a MUST have.
They will be asked to articulate how they used those scripting languages to
solve testing issues from their past in the interview process, that one
question typically hangs most people in the interview process according to
Steve, so

please make sure they have this ability and can discuss it. This is why
they list the following on their description:
Must have an understanding of N-Tier architecture. This means not just
Application Server to Database server, but the PHYSICAL infrastructure
that’s makes up N-Tier architecture.
API testing through direct HTTP calls. There is no front end UI to do
validation on. Testing is all done through commands and validation of data
sent and returned.

Nice to haves:
Experience testing mobile devices
