Location : Greens boro, NC Duration : 1 Year *Job Purpose* * * The purpose of this position is to provide all aspects of Oracle database administration for multiple databases in a 7x24 production environment. The resource in this position will handle the day-to-day database administration including space allocation and management, optimization, backup, recovery, DB instance performance monitoring and tuning, capacity planning, standards identification and compliance, in ensuring a high-level of reliability and availability for database management systems. In addition, the resource in this position must have the ability to work independently on technical functions associated with creating and maintaining Oracle databases in a RAC environment on AIX Unix and Linux. *Duties and Responsibilities* · Pro-actively ensures database systems are maintained at the highest level of support; plan/set procedures; provide reliable and secure systems for business applications. · Review database error messages, diagnose, troubleshoot, and suggest course of action and/or implement solutions. · Provide expertise in performance tuning long-running/problematic queries and performance issues. · Contributes to project team efforts to ensure operational support requirements are implemented. · Provide 24x7 on-call support for database related problems. · Understands and follows database security policies and procedures to ensure accurate data is added to the database and only authorized users can access the database. · Schedules, monitors, and maintains database backup and recovery procedures which will protect the business from unexpected hardware and software failures utilizing RMAN and NetApp snap technologies. · Works closely with operations staff to ensure stable performance for the database environments, monitors, analyzes, identifies and resolves bottlenecks and resolves problems utilizing Oracle OEM. · Provides appropriate resources for business applications by performing capacity planning, workload modeling and prediction; provides business applications with enough resources for their short-term and long-term growth. · Ensure the database management system environment is updated with current stable versions of software products; maintain currency with operating system and support software; plan and implement major software upgrades; ensure change management procedures and methodologies are implemented and followed. · Expert in creating and managing Oracle databases in an Oracle RAC environment utilizing OEM, RMAN, ASM, and Oracle Streams. · Full knowledge of SQL including programming and ways to optimize SQL code. · Stay current on new releases and on DBA technical skills. · Good written and oral communication skills. · Proven ability to establish and maintain a high level of user trust and confidence within the team and across the organization. *Other Qualifications:* 1. 3+ years’ experience managing Oracle in a RAC environment 2. Expert is performance tuning 3. Strong knowledge of Oracle’s OEM Tuning and Diagnostic PAC 4.
