Job Title: Java Application Architect Location: Bloomington, IL Duration: Long-term project Key skills needed in this role includes: Experienced with Java development Knowledge of Spring MVC elements Strong understanding of end to end application design and development Experience identifying and and resolving application errors Knowledgeable in Architectural Development practices Knowledge of IAA framework developed by IBM Experience with Data (DB2 or postgres) We are looking for experienced Application Architects with previous experience designing and implementing custom application software solutions within the insurance industry. The preferred individual will have previous experience designing applications for a large enterprise as a part of an integrated team focused on deliverying appropriate IT solutions to solve critical business needs. Responsibilities of the role include: Ability to create a logical design and provide solution options (including pros/cons and cost/benefit) and work with business and Systems to recommend an option Ability to speak to the business and translate the technical to the business Ability to speak to technical teams to ensure they understanding the business needs Ensures the use of flexibility practices in Application Architecture when working with the business partner. Work with Enterprise Architecture to ensure application and technical architecture meets ICP guidelines and expectations. Work with Technical Engineering to ensure technical architecture artifacts align with the Technical Engineering direction Ability to create a detailed physical design (component specs) from the logical design created Build trust and strong relationships with business partners Works with project teams/working teams to identify areas where there may be integration, continuity, impacts, reuse, and dependencies between efforts. Influences planning, prioritizing, initiating, and packaging of work efforts. Understands likely impacts of Technical Architecture sectors, such as Security, Application Development, Service Management, and Data, while building application architecture strategy. Ensures the use of proven internal and external patterns and frameworks where possible. Practice active listening Be non-controversial and open-minded Communicates with various audiences, such as business and technical leadership, to acquire acceptance and to articulate decisions for application architecture.
