Note : Candidates local to MN are preferred Project Complete Description: Responsibilities Conducts assessments of and identifies key business and technology drivers that impact application architectures, such as end-user community requirements, emerging development technologies, existing application environment (including legacy and packaged systems), and performance and availability requirements. Translates project requirements into detailed designs to be implemented while balancing needs for immediate action and the point of arrival (POA) vision. Guide project teams in detailed design, development and debugging to ensure high quality deliverables and the realization of the designed architecture and requirements. Consults across the organization on development practices, emerging web development frameworks, and new emerging web technology trends. Raises new technology/development opportunities to leadership and communicates the benefits specific to company Designs architectures to which both better the technical solution and account for legacy and packaged systems. Designs service oriented external system interface architecture, including appropriate application of techniques and standards such as portals, service-oriented architecture, web services, etc. Ensures that user requirements are sufficient to solution and provides guidance to project teams regarding guiding principles, system and application design, enterprise coding and design standards, best practices, and system performance and availability. Conducts assessments of current business and technology architectures including: Functional assessment, (e.g. end user satisfaction, functional overlaps/gaps) and Technical assessment (e.g. platforms, tool proliferation, age of underlying technologies, uptime/ availability, business processes). Develops testing strategies to validate functional and non-functional requirements and potentially oversees test execution to validate coverage and perform causal analysis. Proactively Provides input feedback/recommendations to Technology Strategy & Architecture, Standard Owners, and Standard Owner Delegates on best practices, especially, in the web and development areas. Experience in complying with technology standards and design best practices. Required / Desired Skills:- Must have proven experience designing and developing large web solutions in J2EE Must proactively explore new and emerging web and development technologies, synthesizes recommendations, and experienced in influencing stakeholders and leadership of the benefits to company, guiding broader adoption. Must have experience architecting flexible portal/JSRs, SOA, and CMS based solutions. Must have Experience configuring, debugging, and deploying enterprise applications in complex environments Qualifications Must have proven experience designing and developing large web solutions in J2EE Must have working knowledge of PHP, AJAX, REST, SOAP, SQL, Linux, Windows, CVS, CMS, Portals, Python, C#, JavaScript, HTML/DOM. Must proactively explore new and emerging web and development technologies, synthesizes recommendations, and experienced in influencing stakeholders and leadership of the benefits to company, guiding broader adoption. Must have experience architecting flexible portal/JSRs, SOA, and CMS based solutions. Must have Experience configuring, debugging, and deploying enterprise applications in complex environments Must have demonstrated designing and delivery of scalable and distributed web applications Must communicate effectively with developers, stakeholders, piers, and leadership driving results and action. Must have strong business acumen and the ability to identify key issues and the ability to identify key issues and their impact in a broad business context. Prefer experience in Financial Services (Asset Management, Brokerage, Banking, Insurance or Annuities) Prefer UML modeling experience Prefer experience with federated enterprise search development and deployment. Prefer experience with any of the following technologies or frameworks: Liferay, SharePoint, Drools, Hadoop/Map reduce, Flex/ Silverlight, Grails, JSP, ASP .NET Web Parts, Single Sign-On (SSO), LDAP, Team Foundation Server, mobile, web analytics/Omniture, social networking technologies, agile development methodologies, Unified Content Management, Eclipse, Visual Studio. Must have six plus years of broad programming experience Must have three plus years of design and architecture experience, preferred within a large enterprise. Behavior Characteristics:- Must have strong presentations/verbal communications skills and the ability to train and mentor other technologists. Experience writing standards, cookbooks, and best practices on development topics. Candidate must be able to translate technology into business terms and value, history of influencing and improving business solutions.
