Job Title : Sr.Systems Administrator Location : Oakdale, MN Duration : 6 months (Contract TO PERM) pay Range : Negotiable No of openings: 01 Job Description Sr. System Admin BUSINESS PURPOSE: This position is primarily responsible for ESX / VMWare administration. This position is responsible for the design, implementation, support and management of solutions for the infrastructure. It is also responsible for the technical implementation of the server and software systems and the availability of individual application systems. · Design, implement and support for server platforms at the direction of Infrastructure Architects · Design, implement and support ESX / VMWare infrastructure, and secondarily for implementation and support of Linux infrastructure. · Occasional oversight and guidance for the support of the desktop environment (Microsoft and Mac platforms) ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: · Analyzes needs, requirements, existing equipment, cost tradeoffs and performance for all project deployments.? Oversees new and existing systems designs and implementation projects as well as standardizes system documentation. · Acts as technical facilitator addressing centralized communications, coordination, prioritization and execution of both infrastructure and business projects. · Coordinates complex technical implementations, performs capacity planning, and monitoring, and service level agreement reporting. · Writes/reviews technical requirements, procedural documents, and design specifications · Requirements gathering, systems integration, and disaster recovery and implementation and documentation · Provides guidance, direction and training to the System Administrators. · Cross train with the Infrastructure Architects to develop solutions and systems that are manageable and maintainable · Maintain all monitoring systems and analyze all systems to determine monitoring parameters · Maintain and manage the patch management systems and cycle. Responsible for reporting on patch activities in all environments · Develop and analyze capacity planning reports · Perform application and system support · Complies with all ECMC Group Policies · Additional duties as assigned Required / Desired Skills:- Infrastructure: · Responsible for support requests for all systems in a 24x7 environment. The individual will develop and document automated and manual procedures for implementation by a first-level support group · Extensive experience evaluating business and technical requirements in order to assess candidacy for virtualization and recommend appropriate virtualization technology · Develop, document and implement corporate best practices for rigorous testing, implementation and maintenance of enterprise virtualization technologies to maximize consolidation benefits while enhancing virtual machine performance and reliability · Expert working knowledge of VMware enterprise features (DRS, HA, VMotion, VCB, SRM, Update Manager) and P2V tools such as VMware Converter and/or other 3rd-party virtualization related toolsets. · In depth exposure to VMware performance, capacity planning, monitoring, virtualization analysis and consolidation · Develop Operating System specific performance tuning practices and documentation for optimized server consolidation in a virtualized environment · Configuration, advanced management and troubleshooting via ESX host command line, remote CLI, vMA, PowerCLI · Knowledge and hands on experience of backup and recovery best practices including the ability to design and recommend backup solutions for a virtual environment · Maintains understanding of current and future VMware vSphere, View and related management products · Thorough knowledge and hands on experience in storage and networking implementation best practices in a virtualized environment, including Distributed Virtual Switching, Cisco Nexus 1000v, Fibre Channel, FCoE, iSCSI, NFS, VLAN trunking, port channeling, link aggregation · Full understanding of VMware View and XenDesktop virtual desktop capabilities including, management and integration with a focus on security, reliability and maintaining user experience · Full understanding of virtual application packaging technologies including ThinApp, XenApp, App-V and integration within an enterprise desktop infrastructure · Fully proficient in virtualizing tier 1 applications and application servers · Expert level troubleshooting and diagnostics of all VMware technologies, storage access, network access and virtual machines performance issues · Familiarity of enterprise backup systems and practices including optimization for integration into virtualized environments · Develops maintenance plans, patch cycles and upgrade path for VMware products · Provides ongoing training and career development in areas of virtualization and VMware technologies Required Amount of Experience:- · 6+ years of stable, progressive technical system administration experience · 3+ years experience as a Sr Systems Administrator or a similar position · 5+ years experience in Linux · 3+ years of Microsoft server administration · 3+ years experience in VMware Enterprise products QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: · High School degree or GED · BA/BS degree Certification/License: · VMware, NetApp, EMC, Microsoft, Red Hat, Suse, Cisco, MS SQL Server and/or Oracle Database training Hardware: · Maintenance of overall server hardware, software and service levels by rigorous and effective testing and evaluation processes prior to roll out or deployment of new hardware or software into the network · Provide advanced design and administration of hardware platforms including, but not limited to, IBM, HP, Dell, and Cisco chassis and blade based systems · Issues to be resolved require a broad range of troubleshooting skills related to: networking, software functionality, application server setup, databases and data analysis WORK SCHEDULE: · Required to work normal hours to successfully perform the job responsibilities · May need to work nights and weekends to complete work · Able to travel to multiple out-of-state sites as required Please complete the following and send back with your updated resume.
