This is all backend development. Not a web developer role. Experience in delivering products or understanding of that a plus. We are using POJO (Plain Old Java Objects) and SimpleFramework. Most experienced Java developers have experience with POJO and Simple, as well as Spring. We are building lightweight custom applications using technologies such as RabbitMQ, Restlets, SOLR, HBase, MapReduce, Bash and Python scripting. Please do not focus much on the Java framework, but overall Java experience, with Hadoop, queuing technologies like RabbitMQ, and search engines like SOLR experience a plus. *Position responsibilities:* Translate complex functional and technical requirements into detailed design. Perform analysis of vast data stores for the purpose of uncovering insights into car buying and selling behaviors. Implement solutions using the latest big data and machine learning technologies. Create scalable and high-performance web services for data tracking. *Essential skill, knowledge and abilities:* Strong professional Java development experience. Big-data project implementation experience using Hadoop, HBase, and related tools/technologies. Object Oriented Design, web services, application and database programming experience. Passionate about writing high-performance, reliable and maintainable code. Experience with Unix or Linux, including shell scripting. Strong problem solving skills. Sharp analytical abilities and proven design skills. Proven results-oriented person with a focus on delivery. Ability to work with incomplete or imperfect data. Experience with real-time transactional data. Strong collaborator and team player. Ability to work in an unstructured R&D environment. *Non-essential skills, knowledge and abilities:* Ability to identify relationships within large and not necessarily related data sets. Professional experience with data mining, machine learning, and collaborative filtering algorithms. Experience with data visualization software. Experience with Agile (SCRUM or Kanban). *Qualifications:* Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Math, or related field. 5+ years of clearly demonstrated experience developing efficient and scalable software solutions.
