*Title:  Oracle PL/SQL Linux Specialist *

*Location:  Buffalo, NY (must be onsite Monday - Friday 8am - 5pm)*

*Duration:  24 months*



*ACTIVITIES DESCRIPTION/REQUIREMENTS*

Application support and development (use vendor product from Oracle and
deploy on server, deployment process is manual so need strong scripting
skills, and the vendor product connects to oracle database, will also help
with performance monitoring & tuning, will be some installations (few) as
they evaluate some new vendors as they evaluate their current vendors



Analysis (25%), Tuning (25%), Development (10%), Scripting (40%)



Will be working with team members to learn performance monitoring and
tuning and once comfortable will get to the environment side and make
improvements on the deployment process



Team is 60 people in total globally but technical team is 10 in Buffalo
including management, 30 in India, has some support in Hong Kong, Business
Partner is global but HQ in London



*Resource and Skill Type required:*

1. Strong analytical and technical skills

2. Able to work independently, and be self sufficient with minimal direction

3. Able to work flexible hours (work with HK, UK, and India)

4. Strong Unix/Linux skills


   - Linux scripting – Any of these for deployments: (bash/ksh), ant, maven
   - software installation and log monitoring

5. Progressive relational database IT experience within the following areas:


   - Oracle 10g or higher (Use 11g R2 – build database models and load
   databases, troubleshooting, loading, performance shooting, understanding
   what it is doing)
   - SQL and PL/SQL (scripting in PL/SQL – looping blocks of code)
   - procedures/functions/triggers
   - tuning, profiling and optimizing SQL and PL/SQL code
   - Oracle development tools (must have one of the following): PLSQL
   developer, SQL developer, TOAD

6. Advanced skills in MS Office suite:


   - Sharepoint, Excel, Word, Powerpoint, Visio

7. Experience with HP Quality Center (version 11.0 Enterprise Edition) –
use for managing projects, defect tracking, testing – should have
familiarity (not setting up and administering it), just logging defects –
low on list and can learn

8. Experience with source code control tools (RTC, MKS)  - should have
experience with any of these but use MKS now but migrating to RTC but if
use microsoft source control is okay but have to possess an understanding –
low on priority list



*Pluses:*


   - ERwin (7.2.5 or higher) – Oracle send data file in ERWIN (PLUS)
   - Experience with reporting tools (OBIEE, Cognos)  - Plus (familiarity
   would be nice)
   - J2EE/Java experience – don’t use it directly, what they see is
   proprietary configuration factor
   - Web development experience with HTML, XML, Fiddler (Web Debugging tool
   – can learn) – should have some exposure to HTML/XML – plus
   - Websphere experience (WAS/RAD 7+,8+)
   - Experience ETL, Data Warehouse/mart
