*BUSINESS DATA ANALYST (DQ)*



*Please note **Most candidates will have maybe up to 5 years of true DQ
experience if they have any at all since DQ is so new***

*TOP 3 CRITERIA FOR THIS POSITION: *
*-Someone that will work closely with manager(Head of Data Quality) need to
have a little bit of a business sense (not only DQ work itself, but have
helped define process & strategy*
*-Have to have ability to work with others (data stewards) there are 2 Data
Stewards right now, and 2 more will be coming on board in two weeks. *
*-Understand what is a business rule (ex. a process flow)*

This BU creation is still in the beginning stages. Their key deliverables
will be working on operating model design, working with Data Stewards to
prioritize data sets, working with Business Units capturing business rules.
Will need to do a rationalizing on all business unit vocabulary.

Communication skills are essential (written/oral) as the contractor will be
working with Business and IT teams. Ability to document well is critical.
Must have the ability to use Visio to create data process flows.

Reviews, analyzes, and ensures the quality of data in database systems and
provides support from a quality perspective. Must be able to understand
business rules, work with varying data formats, and develop metrics and
audit procedures to monitor data quality.

Understand, query and manipulate varying data and file formats. Identify,
compare, and resolve data quality problems. Evaluate business impact of
specific data quality issues. Measure and audit large volumes of varying
data for quality issues. Works with multiple groups, including overseas
groups, to resolve issues.

• Works with head of Data Quality to refine and document the overall DQ
operating model
• Works with Data Stewards to identify and understand prioritized data sets
• Works with business owners to decompose and document business rules
• Documents data process flows and transformation rules
• Understands and can measure various dimensions of Data Quality (using
tools and without)
• Understands Meta Data concepts
• Understand Business Glossaries and related topics
• Can rationalize multiple meanings for the same data definitions
• Can solicit input from business teams and Data Stewards to standardize
business glossary terms
• Can manage work streams and defined pieces of work

• Utilize tools (IBM Information Analyzer, Metadata Workbench, IBM business
Glossary etc.) to analyze, query and manipulate data according to defined
business rules and procedures.

• Follow defined audit procedures, and produce required metrics according
to defined procedures.

• Correct data quality errors, either with system tools or working with the
DQ or LOB teams.

• May update/maintain database with reviewed and corrected data.

• Review data and record layouts prior to submitting to development or DQ
teams and does final check when data is loaded. May approve release of data
into production.

• Prepare reports and track trends.

• Interpret, evaluate and resolve or escalate phone/e-mail inquiries
pertaining to user requests.

• Provide training to other Data Quality Analysts.

Manager will start with phone interviews followed by in-person interviews.
