- Proven application development experience and solid understanding of good software engineering design principles - Solid knowledge of Java and Object Oriented Programming principles - Experience with/understanding of some of the more commonly used J2EE and related open-source technologies (e.g., Spring) - Experience with web application development, including MVC design pattern and web application frameworks (e.g., Tapestry, JSF, Struts, Spring MVC, etc.) - Experience with modern client-side web application technologies, including Javascript, AJAX, jQuery, CSS and HTML; knowledge of any Javascript frameworks is a plus - Experience with XML and XML related technologies, including XML schemas and XSLT's - Experience/understanding of ORM principles and ORM tools such as Hibernate or Cayenne - Strong knowledge of RDBMS databases (any of MySQL, Oracle, SQL Server, DB2, Sybase) and comfort with creating/maintaining existing DDL and DML scripts - Experience in customer-facing situations and the ability to clearly communicate ideas, concerns and issues with all stake holders - Strong analytical ability and the capacity to help formulate and propose requirements from discussions internally as well as with customers.
