*VMware Sys Admin * *Springfield, VA* *Rate: Market* *Primary job duties:* This position will provide on-site Level 1/II VMware system administration services in support of the CBP National Data Center’s Technical Operations Center. Using Managed Objects the candidate will be responsible for alert monitoring, diagnosis and troubleshooting of the Virtualization and Cloud Computing systems in the CBP Production environment. This includes monitoring and operational troubleshooting of multiple server hardware platforms (Dell, HP, IBM, Cisco), and the ability to analyze and troubleshoot scripts (powershell, powerCLI, PERL). Job Duty 1 with % of time – Monitor VMware and Cloud Computing environment using Managed Objects – 65% Job Duty 2 with % of time – Server and ESXi host troubleshooting and operations support – 15% Job Duty 3 with % of time – Follow documented procedures for escalation of events – 10% Job Duty 4 with % of time – Identify and report hardware failures – 5% Job Duty 5 with % of time – Update shift logs and perform shift turnover – 5% *Required Skills - in order of importance with years of experience needed* 2+ years operational administration of VMware vSphere environments (version 5 preferred) 2+ years monitoring and troubleshooting in a Data Center environment including server hardware 2+ years collecting and analyzing performance metrics in vSphere for troubleshooting purposes 2+ years administration of REHL server administration 2+ years VMware ESXi administration NOTE: Unique Skills: SHIFT WORK REQUIRED: Monday - Friday 3 PM - 11:30 PM *Preferred Skills - with years of experience needed* 3-5 years operational administration of VMware vSphere environments (version 5 preferred) 3-5 years Windows Server 2008/2012 systems administration in a Data Center Environment. General knowledge of VMware networking and Storage administration.
