SOA Solution Architect Downtown Chicago, IL 1 Year Contract If you have someone let me know…it’s the messaging part that is key Job Description The Enterprise Data Layer group is an extension of the Enterprise Data Platform group that delivers data services which are consumed by enterprise applications. The charter of the group is provide a single source of truth for data available from originating systems through an enterprise data warehouse and or data mart. The Enterprise Data Layer group works in conjunction with a variety of business partners, working groups, and originating systems to ensure the data delivered is consistent and conforms to the adopted industry standard messaging model. The Enterprise Data Layer group will be instrumental in defining the path for existing applications to migrate their data needs from existing sources to the new data service platform. Candidate will collaborate with the department Lead Architect and the Enterprise SOA group on the design and implementation of the service platform. Knowledge/Skills: The candidate we’re looking for will have the following characteristics: • Understanding of Service Oriented Architecture and the development of enterprise wide services • Experience with an Enterprise Service Bus best practices • Familiar with SOAP web services • Familiar with test driven development application team • Previous experience in an Agile development team • Java development skills tailored to cloud design and development best practices • Experience in developing highly scalable and multi-threaded applications. • Experience in rapid application development groups Technical Skills: • Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience • 5+ years’ experience in Java including Object Oriented software designs and concepts • 3+ years’ experience in enterprise messaging, internet messaging, and web service and xml technologies • Experience in ANT, Maven, Junit, Eclipse and XML Spy • 3+ years’ experience with Oracle and PL/SQL. Must be aware of the Kimball methodology. Major Duties: • Excellent Java programming skills are essential, with an emphasis on developing cutting edge high performing web service applications. Exposure to and knowledge of continuous integration, software release management techniques and interfacing with test engineers / test driven development as part of any major software development project is expected. This is a hands-on development role and requires a software development background. • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are critical, as the individual will work with a geographically dispersed team to effectively translate requirements into solutions as well as an ability to effectively interface with business partners, technical staff, and other organizational leaders. • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks , ability to work within project timelines , good interpersonal and decision making skills, attention to detail and the ability to be proactive, prudent and confident in time critical pressure situations are a must .
