JOB DESCRIPTION:



*Network Administrator:*

•               Perform analysis of network needs and contributes to design
of network architecture, integration, and installation.

•               Install and maintain local area network hardware and
software, including servers, peripherals, network nodes, terminals, and
wiring.

•               Evaluate local area network hardware and software
requirements and capabilities and makes recommendations.

•               Coordinate installation of hardware and software by others.

•               Provide support to and trains users in local area network
administration and usage.

•               Monitor and maintain network stability.

•               Communicate and coordinate network schedule, backups, and
downtime to users.

•               Coordinate third-party maintenance for network hardware,
software, and telecommunications services.

•               Prepare and maintain documentation of network
configurations and cabling layouts.

•               Make recommendations for security enhancements and
purchases.

•               Perform risk assessments and testing of data processing
systems.

•               Establish system controls by developing framework for
controls and levels of access; recommend improvements.

•               Monitor assets, network, and data ensuring the prevention
of events that negatively impact confidentiality, availability, and
integrity.

•               Review computer systems and application logs to identify
and report possible violations of security.

•               Participate in security incident response efforts by
maintaining an in-depth knowledge of common attack vectors, common security
exploits, and countermeasures. Responds to all information security
relevant events.

•               Offer technical information security consulting services to
distributed personnel who are responsible for one or more information
security systems; these people include Network Administrators, Systems
Administrators, Software Developers, and Database Administrators Monitor
and analyze attempted efforts to compromise security protocols.

•               Identifies and investigates activities and conducts and
provides analyses regarding results. Escalate issues to higher level
associates Provide technical expertise to assist in the planning,
designing, implementation, and monitoring of IT application and systems
Develop secure systems, network architectures and ensure that information
system design is compliant with industry security policies.

•               Perform other duties as assigned.



*Server  Administrator:*

•               Responsible for the installation, configuration and removal
of E-mail, file, print, proxy and other Windows and UNIX O/S servers.

•               Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on
centralized servers.

•               Monitor performance of centralized servers.

•               Assist with Desktop scheduled and unscheduled maintenance
tasks.

•               Assist in developing and maintaining policies, procedures
and standards.

•               Assist in training System Administrator 1 and individual
agency MIS staff in County policies and procedures as they relate to the
server configuration.

•               Participate as active member of project teams.

•               Effectively and professionally communicate with end users
and agency personnel.

•               Maintain a strong working relationship with MIS
Coordinators in county agencies.

•               Submit true and accurate man-hour reporting information.

•               Prepare, maintain and submit written project status reports
to project managers.

•               Maintain knowledge of new and changing technology.

•               Analyzes performance indicators, to ensure that the servers
are operating efficiently.

•               Changes system software so that system performance will
meet objectives.

•               Reviews computer system capabilities, workflow, and
scheduling limitations to determine if requested changes to operating
system are possible.

•               Writes description of steps taken to modify system and
procedures required to implement new software.

•               Assists users having problems with use of system software.

•               Prepares workflow charts and diagrams to modify system
software.

•               Visits vendors to observe demonstration of systems software.

•               Administers and monitors computer program that controls
user access to system.

•               Responds to Help Desk problem reports as required to bring
the affected server systems back to fully operational status.

•               Reviews productivity reports and problem records to
evaluate performance of computer system.

•               Performs others duties as assigned.
