SQL DBA

Do you have any SQL DBA's local to Ohio? See below. Looking for DBAs that
have supported over 200+ SQL Server Instances and over 2,000+ databases.
Has to be local to Ohio!



This position will be responsible for the design, configuration,
installation, maintenance and support of Nationwide Children's Hospital’s
(NCH) SQL Server environments.  The DBA will manage SQL Server technologies
used by a wide variety of clinical, business and infrastructure
applications.



Responsibilities include:

   - Design and configure server and database settings, options, security
   and features to best meet application requirements.
   - Install, patch and/or upgrade SQL Server 2008 and above in a variety
   of configurations, including virtual (VMWare), physical, stand-alone,
   clustered and Availability Groups.
   - Ensure data recovery business requirements are met by designing,
   implementing and maintaining backup, restoration, replication and disaster
   recovery solutions for SQL Server.
   - Protect data assets by designing, implementing and maintaining
   appropriate controls, such as groups, roles, data encryption and user
   access monitoring.
   - Conduct capacity planning exercises to forecast the SQL Server
   investments needed to support projected business growth.
   - Detect, troubleshoot and resolve SQL Server related performance
   problems, such as resource waits, locks, CPU, memory, I/O, disk space
   and/or network contention.
   - Create and maintain SQL Server database configuration items in a
   central Configuration Management (CMDB) database.
   - On a rotational basis, provide 24x7 on-call support for production SQL
   Servers.


 Reporting Relationships



Reports to: IS Manager, Enterprise Data Warehouse

Knowledge, skills and abilities required



   - Bachelor’s degree or equivalent level of experience including
   coursework in computer science is desirable.
   - 5+ years of experience supporting SQL Server environments.
   - Must be able to demonstrate strong technical skills in the use of the
   components of SQL Server and troubleshooting SQL Server issues.
   - Excellent verbal and written communication
   <http://practicalanalyst.com/category/communication/> skills and the
   ability to interact professionally with a diverse group, executives,
   managers, and subject matter experts.
   - Ability to work independently, set priorities and work off-hours, as
   needed, to support maintenance windows.
   - Experience with VMWare strongly preferred but not required.
   - Experience with SSIS and/or SSRS preferred but not required.
   - Microsoft Certified Associate or Expert in SQL Server preferred but
   not required.
