*Position : SOA/Java Architect.* *Location : Chicago, IL.* *Duration : Long Term.* ** *Responsibilities:* - Analyze product requirements and design software that meets product specifications. - Ability to evaluate different technologies, build Proof-Of-Concepts (POC) to supplement design decisions. - Design and document SOAP and RESTful Web Services. - Document software design using UML notation and different styles for architecture diagrams that will be used by developers in building the systems. - Collaborate with database architects and design appropriate ways for fast access to large data sets. - Collaborate with other engineers on architecture, design, code and configuration reviews and testing - Provide weekly status reports to project manager describing accomplishments. - Follow department quality assurance guidelines and processes. - Design and specify key interfaces and data models - Communicate architectural decisions and intent with project team - Collect and analyze results against the defined validation criteria - Map requirements and use cases to subsystems and components - Define subsystem process model and dynamic interactions - Monitor architectural/design conformance of implementation with project team - Specify work plan to implement, maintain, or correct conforming software - Understand and work with new software technologies to understand impact and applicability *Required Skills:* - Undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics or another hard science or engineering degree - MBA/MSc/PhD preferred - 8+ years relevant work experience AND 3+ years as an Architect or relevant work experience - 5+ years of J2EE and 3+ years of SOA application design and coding experience. - Proven ability to document Web Service APIs in a clear and concise manner. - Enthusiastic and quick learner of new technologies - Familiarity with Agile methodologies - Proven track in building Java based Web Services with sub-second response times and stringent SLAs. - Strong knowledge and interest in designing scalable, high performance applications. - Strong knowledge of SOAP, REST, XSD, WSDL and WS-* standards. - Working knowledge of Enterprise Service Bus technologies and AAA with Open LDAP. - Working knowledge of JBoss SOA suite and Tomcat. - Working knowledge of Linux (RedHat) and UNIX (Solaris 10). - Knowledge of rules based systems desirable. - Familiarity with Web Services security and Authentication. - Familiarity with XMPP and JMS technology. - Familiarity with Apache projects such as Hadoop, HDFS, Lucene, CouchDB and Solr is a big plus. - Familiarity with Oracle 10g/11g, MySQL and PostgreSQL databases. - Strong knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Visio and UML modeling tools. - Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills. - Creative, problem-solving approach with developed multi-tasking ability. - Ability to effectively function in a fast-paced and constantly changing environment. - Proficient oral and written communication skills - Expert in one or more architecture domains and how design choices impact the architecture up and downstream - Expert in one or more programming languages - Ability to prototype a system end-to-end - Ability to lead R&D specification, requirements, development and test teams to converge on a single architecture for a single architecture domain - Knowledge of all existing standards for a single architecture domain and successfully completes panel interview with internal Architecture group - Mentor two or more Sr. Engineers *Hadoop & HBase experience is a big plus* If interested, please send a reply with your* updated word format resume*and the following details: *Full Name:* *Phone Number:* *Home Number:* *Email ID:* *Expected Rate:* *Availability:* *Current Location:* *Visa Status:* *Relocation:* If you are interested in this position please respond with updated resume rate and Contact details ASAP.
