Send resumes to vib...@tekshapers.com Storage Engineer (Server Engineers - AIX, VM, SAN, CISCO, VMX, UNIX, Linux) Term: 6 months + Location: New York, NY GC,USC Job Description: Storage Engineer (Server Engineers - AIX, VM, SAN, CISCO, VMX, UNIX, Linux) We are seeking a qualified candidate for the position of Storage Engineer for a 6-month contract to permanent opportunity. The engagement will take place at the NYC location and the Consultant is expected to travel 10% within the 5 boroughs of NYC. Hands-On Experience in one or all of the following: • Experience in managing IBM storage hardware, including DS8000 series arrays, IBM Flash copy, Using Tivoli Performance Center • Experience in managing EMC storage hardware, including VMAX, CLARiiON, VNX, VPLEX, Recover Point, Data Domain, Celerra and Centera. • Experience in managing Hitachi storage hardware, including VSP, HNAS, HCP, Tuning Manager, Device Manager, TrueCopy, Hitachi Command Suite (HCS),Storage Navigator, HDT, HDLM and Hitachi Universal Replicator(HUR), HDvM, HTnM, HTSM. • Hands-on experience with management of Backups using array-based snapshot technology. • Experience in troubleshooting hardware issues on all components of storage and backup infrastructure, including x86 servers, Power servers, tape storage devices, fiber channel switches and Storage arrays. • Solid understanding of Windows, UNIX (AIX) and Linux (SUSE and Red Hat) operating systems, including networking and storage configuration. • Ability to work in a team based environment with minimal supervision Principal Duties and Responsibilities • Monitor Enterprise Storage Infrastructure consisting of DS8000 series, EMC VMAX, Isilon, VPLEX, Recover Point and Hitachi VSP/G1000 storage arrays using native and enterprise administration tools. • Provision storage to hosts running various operating systems, including AIX, Windows Server and VMware ESX. • Run fiber channel cabling to newly installed hosts and troubleshoot issues with existing connections. • Configuring and troubleshooting Cisco MDS class fiber channel switches. • Assist with configuring backups using FlashCopy • Assist with troubleshooting backup storage hardware, including FC attached tape libraries and Data Domain storage hardware • Work independently to troubleshoot storage access and performance issues, and coordinate with different systems teams as necessary • Participate in testing OS and backup software updates within the test environment • Perform storage environment capacity planning functions • Participate in researching, testing and suggesting new technologies to improve overall backup/storage infrastructure • Work with system/application owners to plan and test DR strategies for their systems • Work with system/application owners to run ad hoc backups before major system upgrades/updates. • Maintain current knowledge regarding latest releases and fixes that effect the environment • Maintain current knowledge regarding latest storage technologies and trends • Handle support tickets and coordinate with different vendors including Symantec, EMC, Hitachi, VMware, IBM, etc. • Create and maintain procedural, project status and product documentation for storage environment projects. Qualifications / Required Skill: • Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related technical field, or equivalent combination of education and experience required. • Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience directly managing day to day operations of an Enterprise Storage environment. • Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience working with Enterprise class storage arrays and Director class Cisco MDS switches. • Hands-on experience working with Enterprise class infrastructure technologies, including hands-on server management, administration and troubleshooting.
