*Requirements: *

• Minimum 9-10 years of experience in Oracle database administration and
structured development methodology
• Computer Science or Business degree or equivalent working experience
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills - works well with diverse
teams and independently
• Self-starter with excellent organization, planning, detail oriented
documentation and time management skills
• Experienced with the full project lifecycle from conception to
implementation and support including batch and interactive design
• Experience with 24/7 problem solving in an existing, complex environment
including monitoring disk, CPU and network performance anomalies and the
ability to act immediately upon system and/or network performance alarms
• Experienced with large scale multi-terabyte Oracle databases
• Experienced with the use of capacity plans to plan for future growth
within the boundaries of the current design
• Highly experienced in all aspects of Oracle 11g database design and
support including high availability, backup / recovery, database design,
SQL performance, data guard, and RMAN duplication processes.
• Experience in creating and monitoring build streams on multiple databases.

• Experience with monitoring and reporting on data loads related to
interfaces, including analysis of problems and recommendations for
performance improvements
• Experienced with Oracle database replication technologies including
streams, CDC and golden gate
• Experienced in the design and implementation of archival processes and
scripts for WebSphere application
• Highly experienced with Oracle tools including SQL Plus, Enterprise
Manager, and Grid Control, and Data pump (exp/imp)
• Highly experienced with Oracle objects including tables, indexes,
partitions, views, SQL, PL/SQL, stored procedures, packages, and triggers
• Experience with designing and implementing database backup and build
processes and scripts
• Demonstrated experience in configuration management
• Highly experienced with the creation and modification of Unix shell
scripts
• Understands multithreaded Java design and tuning
• Proficient in server software installation
• Knowledge of VMware, physical server configuration, and network
configurations
• Multi-platform and multi-system integration experience
• DBMS Industry recognized certification preferred



*Responsibilities: *

• Participate 24 x 7 in database administration, software, and hardware
support.
• Consult on technical solutions that include hardware design, server
networking design, high availability Oracle database designs, data models
and schema objects.
• Support lower environment and production Oracle databases including
concurrent development efforts
• Deploy and maintain Windows and Unix scripts to ensure the database build
and change processes are efficient
• Takes initiative to modernize non-standard models, processes, and
implementations
• Develop, perform, and monitor database backups ensuring that backup
process is efficient and reliable
• Proactively resolve application and database performance issues including
SQL tuning
• Responsible for design and maintenance of the document data extract
generation systems (Java, SSLT, Oracle PL/SQL), and application tuning
(Java and Oracle)
• Proactively monitor and enhance database architecture ensuring available
capacity for planned growth
• Duplicate / refresh databases using the RMAN duplication process
• Perform release build / configuration management of the databases
• Enforce application coding standards and enforce the use of configuration
management best practices
• Follow and contribute to organization best practices
• Support emergency, interim, and full system releases
• Responsible for system redundancy, failover, and high system availability
strategies
• Maintain database to meet IRS and local internal security standards
• Resolve IRS database audit concerns and remediate known vulnerabilities
• *May* include the support of the following which are currently the
responsibility within the team : Oracle Grid Control, SQL Server
Administration, DataGuard, Audit Vault, MQ Series, Dynamics, Informatica
PowerCenter, Dynatrace, Opcon, IIR/SSA, and HP ALM Administration, Batch
processing assistance, Elixer Opus
• Maintain currency in database, data management, and industry trends
through research/education/self-motivated training and personal development
• Other duties as assigned
