One of the key initiatives is to create a universal Datawarehouse  to
consolidate all the duplication of efforts having indiv data sources for
the various applications.

They should have strong Data Skills, be able to design a data model and
have the ability to design the messaging apis that will move data around,
physical data modeling skills are a plus.

BACKGROUND

Commerce Data Model Team is looking for a Senior Business Analyst and Data
Modeler to work on the requirements for and design of an enterprise wide
solution for front-to-back execution of all pre and post trade businesses
including Sales, Trading, Risk, Operations, Control Functions and Finance.

The Senior Business Analyst and Data Modeler will be responsible for the
collection and analysis of business data requirements, and the design of
data models at the conceptual and logical level to support those needs.
This is a critical role for designing data models to support strategic
applications and the enterprise integration of data. The initial focus for
this role will be integrating the data requirements of a new Detailed
Derivatives Subledger system with an enterprise-wide, multi-function,
multi-asset data model.

The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate lead level
capabilities in conceptual analysis, problem solving, and data design. They
should have a proven ability to take ownership of business requirements,
data analysis and modeling sessions.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Gather business and functional data requirements, initially for the build
out of a new Operations and Finance Subledger system, and then for other
functional areas inc Trade Capture and Risk Consolidation.
Integrate these business and functional-specific requirements with a
enterprise-wide data model.
Translation from initial business requirements to high level data model
specifications, data flow diagrams, and attributed logical entity
relationship diagrams.
Develop and document extensions to the common conceptual and logical data
models.
Communicate enterprise data model designs to cross-functional groups and
senior subject matter experts.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE

Significant experience with the data models required for the representation
and storage of trades and positions in multiple businesses, plus ability to
translate those concepts to any other business domain.
Must be an expert in the Trade Capture, Risk or Subledger functions of at
least one asset class or business line, including detailed knowledge of
typical trading scenarios. Must also have multiple years experience in at
least one other asset area.
Business areas of required knowledge (the candidate must have at least any
2), in priority order: Interest Rate Derivs, Consolidated Derivative Risk,
Equity Derivs, Equity Structured Notes, Credit Derivs, FX Options, Cash
Bonds, SPVs, Debt Issuance, FID Structured Notes, Equity Swaps,
Commodities, Structured Products, and Equity Cash.
Strong Business Analysis and requirements gathering skills.
Strong experience in performing data modeling studies and developing
detailed data models.
Must be able to recognize and identify patterns in data relationships from
disparate systems.
Strong experience in transforming business requirements into conceptual and
logical models.
Previous experience of working with object oriented analysis and design.
Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
Good background working with complex data schemas.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Excellent visual information design skills (eg Instance Diagrams &
data-oriented usecases)
PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE

Preferred functional knowledge, in priority order: Trade Capture,
Valuation, Risk, PnL, Balance Sheet Reporting, Brokerage & Clearing,
Position Servicing & Corporate Actions, Credit Risk, Counterparty Reference
Data and Securities Ref Data.
Candidates with expert level experience in modeling for a larger number of
financial asset classes will have an advantage over those with less broad
knowledge.
Knowledge of finance and operational Subledger functions, ideally from
direct BA experience of those functions.
E-R diagramming abilities (eg in ERWin or UML in Visio), including the
translation of business analysis to Logical Entity Relationship diagrams.
Conversion to Physical Entity-Relationship
Provide overall leadership in data modeling solutions across heterogeneous
systems.
Able to influence external teams to conform to, or enhance, the model, and
determine appropriate solutions.
Development experience in functional (eg Scala) and object oriented
(Java/C++) programming languages is desirable. Object-oriented analysis and
design experience is desirable.
Data development experience with SQL on DB2 or Sybase is desirable.
A Working knowledge of IBM’s Universal Data Model for Financial Services is
desirable.
YEARS OF EXPERIENCE10+

MINIMUM LEVEL OF EDUCATION: BSc or equivalent degree, with exceptional
academic results (1st or 2.1 minimum).
