6+ month project please Skype Principal Software Engineer is a developer who creates or modifies highly complex programs, modules, routines, scripts and data objects from a detailed design where performance, efficiency, and reliability are critical to the entire system. At times they will also be responsible for putting together the high level and/or detailed designs. They understand interactions and interfaces in the systems they support, and have a broad knowledge of multiple business processes. While this position has no direct reports, it does begin to manage and coordinate resources on assigned projects. They are responsible for the correctness of the systems being produced. They are skilled and experienced in all phases of the system development life cycle. They are involved in application development, meeting with their users to determine needs and mentoring more junior associates. They have a thorough knowledge of application systems and begin to collaborate in the development and execution of project plans with project management. Requirements *Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent experience *Minimum 5 years development experience with ETL tools (preferably Informatica 7.x or later and Teradata) *Minimum 3 years Experience in SQL, database programming and utilities (preferably DB2 UDB 9.x or later) *Minimum 3 years Experience in relational and dimensional database design techniques *Minimum 3 years Experience working in a Data Warehouse environment *Minimum 2 years Experience developing applications in Windows and Unix operating environments *Minimum 2 years Experience working with Business Intelligence tools (Cognos, Brio, MicroStrategy etc.), is a plus. Preferred skills *Background in AS/400 development environment using RPG, DB2/400 is a plus *Experience with MQ/Series or other messaging tool is a plus *Experience with J2EE/Web technologies is a plus *Primary responsibilities* *Develop a broad and in-depth knowledge of business processes and system environment *Create or modify highly complex programs, modules, routines, scripts and data objects from a detailed design where performance, efficiency, and reliability are critical to the entire system *Create high level and detailed design documents *Test, implement and maintain technical upgrades *Monitor the use and performance of systems *Develop application documentation *Identify, isolate and resolve malfunctions related to software *Consult with IS staff and users on technical issues relating to systems *Compliance with IS standards, policies and procedures *Perform administrative duties, including training, staff meetings, status reports, etc *Perform source system analysis and design mapping logic between source systems and the Enterprise Data Warehouse. Analyze data in source systems to assess data cleanliness and make recommendations for addressing within the source systems or as part of the ETL process *Create (or advise in the creation of) data extraction, cleansing and load programs to move data from source systems to the target Data Warehouse *Document and execute test plans as well as provide support to QA processes for data loading and data validation *Document and execute implementation plans to deploy data integration solutions in the Data Warehouse environment. *Support the code promotion process through development, QAT and production as required *Develop, implement and maintain schedule/dependency logic for automated ETL processing.
