Job: Level 3 NOC Engineer

Duration: 6 Months

Location: San Jose, CA



Description

• The L3 NOC engineer  position provides a highly motivated individual an
opportunity to work with the Services Technology Group within the Client
under the PNO

C organization umbrella

• The successful candidate will have a track record and desire to excel at
both technical issue resolution and customer management. Multi-tasking and
the abilit

y to successfully manage multiple issues at once are necessary for the L3
NOC engineer

• The L3 NOC engineer  will also build and maintain relationships with
Client's existing internal support groups.

• The L3 NOC engineer group within the Client is a dynamic and growing
organization looking for knowledgeable and capable individuals to help
scale the team as

we move forward in a very fast and evolving marketplace.



Generic Responsibility

• Performs Intermediate Level Troubleshooting, Analysis and Diagnosis of
Application problems

• Drive issues with other L3 teams and IT infrastructure teams

• Adherence to SLA’s and Timely Case Management via Remedy

• Collaborates proactively with L3 Support Engineers to ensure optimal use
of resources to meet customer needs.

• Participate in Change & Release Management Activities.

• Participate in Change Advisory Board Review Meetings.

• Supports L2 Support/Escalation Engineer resources on deployment of most
services and required Applications.

• Assist L2, L3 & Field Engineer in implementing Engineering
Recommendations

• Provides remote deployment support if required.

• Works as necessary to assures that Application problems are resolved as
per SLA

• Acts as an initial focal point for major network problem resolution via
real-time monitoring platform.



Product Knowledge

• The key area of focus on this role will Routing & Switching as well as
network security and some datacenter

• BMC Remedy general usage

• In-depth knowledge in Routing & Switching as well as Cisco security
principles and Infosec policies

• IP Routing protocols ( BGP).

• In-depth internetworking troubleshooting in a large-scale network
environment

• Able to analyze, use and configure medium to large networks.

• Proven crisis management skills.

• Excellent verbal communication skills--these skills are essential for
this engineering role as some work being done is through remote
communication.

• Very strong Problem Solving skills, and ability to determine root cause
and determine resolution for previously unknown problems

• Ability to drive recreates remotely--Many issues result in the engineer
needing to perform a recreate of the customer problem in order to isolate
the issue an

d resolve.

• Good organizational skills.

• The position requires that the NCE is able to prioritize his/her workload
and manage customer commitments.

• Strong teamwork and collaboration skills.

• Able to work effectively with and provide guidance to NCE team and other
collaborating workgroups.



Requirements

• Typically 5-7 years, Min of 2 years’ experience in NOC/TAC related
environment

• A Bachelor’s degree in Systems, Information Technology, Computer
Science/MCA/MS or equivalent

• Direct experience with IT Managed Services industry including
intermediate understanding of strategic and tactical components.

• Previous experience in supporting IT applications that are in hosted
datacenter environments

• Deep knowledge of Linux/UNIX system administration

• Good understanding of Databases

• Excellent communication skills, written and verbal.

• Intermediate knowledge of network management, network availability &
Performance Management.

• Intermediate understanding of Change Management process

• Proactive monitoring to minimize impacts to application availability as
per SLA.

• Automating tasks with Perl scripts, Java programs and SQL queries for
proactive monitoring.

• Production support activities including analyzing & executing scripts and
monitoring the log files. Periodic health checks on applications/systems
and alarm p

rocesses

• As a 24X7X365 organization, shift work, holidays and on-call
responsibilities will be required.

• Certifications desired include:

o VMware Certified professional ( Desirable)

o RHCE (Desirable)

o ITIL V3 Certified (Desirable)

o CCNP or CCIE (Desirable)
