Position: QA Location: Milwaukee, WI Duration: 6 months Rate: $38/hr Description: Position Comments: 1. Design, developing, and execute test plans 2. Effective communication of test plans Summary: Responsible for the creation, implementation and execution of test plans, test scripts and test cases for software project releases. Performs under minimal supervision significantly complex testing of software applications. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: . Develops and maintains master test plan for software project releases. . Manages the overall test process per the testing methodology, and ensures the testing methods meet the specifications. . Designs, develops and executes software test plans for assigned area or application(s). . Develops, maintains and upgrades manual test scripts, utilities, simulators, data sets and other programmatic test tools required to execute test plans. . Effectively communicates testing activities and findings in oral and written forms. . Controls and manages daily test activities for assigned area or application(s). . Provides internal quality assurance. . Identifies risks and develops mitigation strategies. . Evaluates the overall test process. . Coordinates project planning efforts with other areas or cost centers affected by work unit projects. . Administers and controls test tools. . Organizes and maintains the test script library for assigned area or application(s). . Performs other related duties as assigned. Some decision-making. Education: Bachelor's degree from a four year college or university in computer science, management of information services or a related field. Experience: 5-7 years in quality assurance with full life-cycle test, writing test plans, developing test cases and implementing test strategies; including two years leading complex test programs or equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: . Thorough knowledge of methods, tools, and technology used in software testing . Thorough knowledge and use of quality management methods, tools, and technology used to create and support defect-free, application software that meets the needs of the client/business partner . Considerable knowledge of the basic principles, processes, phases and roles of application development methodologies . Considerable knowledge of primary database engines such as Oracle, SQL Server, DB2 with a demonstrated ability to write complex queries to be used for data validation and troubleshooting . Considerable knowledge of object-oriented development tools, techniques, and principles with expertise in at least one object-oriented language . Considerable knowledge of functions, features, and components of existing and planned operating systems and applications . Knowledge of project management principles, methods and tools that is demonstrated through test projects . Considerable skill in understanding and focusing on the clients' needs, establishing credibility and building relationships with clients . Considerable skill in analysis, solid decision-making and problem solving . Ability to manage change throughout the test process . Ability to deliver results under pressure . Ability to manage conflicting interests and identify compromises . Ability to demonstrate interpersonal and teambuilding skills, working with technical and non-technical individuals at various levels of management and non-management positions . Ability to communicate with individuals at a level appropriate for the audience . Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing . Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, clients, vendors and public .
